Please recommend me brands for makeup basics - wedding

I get married soon and am planning on doing my own makeup.
I currently use cheap basics from Rommel or revlon but they don't seem to have the coverage or staying power I might need for a full wedding day.

I've heard good things about Charlotte tilbury and also the Estée Lauder double wear for foundation.

Is there any brands I should be considering?

I need the whole lot -

Foundation
Eye liner
Mascara
Eye shadow
Lipstick

Is there anything else I should consider as a must have like primer or setting spray?

Should I have eyelashes done professionally?

Clueless!!

What about Bobbi Brown. You could book a trial/lesson and then redeem the cost against some makeup. I rate their foundation and eyeshadow.
I'd stick with Rommel for liner and mascara.

Bear in mind for the foundation you'll need something matt with no sheen or spf - otherwise, your face will be shiny and white in the photos!

For my wedding I stuck with my Rimmel foundation as it definitely suits my skin the best of any foundations I have tried. I used a Benefits Roller Lash mascara, a Mac lipstick and lipliner, an Urban Decay eyeshadow pallet and setting spray and a Clinique Primer and concealer. Definitely get some free samples of stuff from different make up counters and see what you like.

I'd suggest that you avoid Estée Lauder double wear, it looks great in person, but awful in photographs. You need one with no SPF, to avoid flashback.

I'd suggest that you go to a few make up counters and ask for suggestions and samples of foundations with no SPF, as it's difficult to rely on recommendations for foundation, as it really depends on what suits your skin type.

Try Illamasqua, Bobbi Brown, Chanel, and MAC counters first, you will find all of these in a Selfridges store.

Bobbi Brown is great for those wanting a more natural look/don't usually wear much make up.

I'm a lily lolo fan of foundation and eye shadow. Lasts all day on me.
Mascara - a relatively cheap one works and should stay on all day.
Tend to spend more on lipsticks to get staying power.

Oh and I would definitely recommend getting semi permanent lashes done.

Make sure you are clear with the beauty therapist about how natural or dramatic you want them to look.

Thank you all! Great advise.

Will take a trip to John Lewis to talk to the beauty counters there and look into semi permenant lashes

I'd tryout some semi permanent lashes to save messing with mascara. I've work them permanently for around 6 years now

I've recently started using a Matt, very lightwear feeling no7 foundation.

ems137 · 30/07/2018 10:34

Oh and I've tried the double wear este Lauder and i find it feels to heavy for me

springmachine · 30/07/2018 10:43

How long before the wedding can I get the lashes done?

It depends how long you need them to last @springmachine

Are you going on honeymoon straight after the wedding? If so, I'd get them done maybe two or three days before you go.

If not, you could get them a week in advance.

They generally last around 2 weeks before you need infills.

It would be worthwhile getting your own lashes tinted at the same time, unless they are naturally very dark.

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/07/2018 15:34

I had my lashes done the day before my wedding, and a spray tan too.

I would use a setting spray and a primer. TBH by the time you've bought all the make up you could have got a mua.
