Looking for advice from people who've had lip fillers.

Has anyone on here has lip fillers? I posted in chat asking if they'd be good for me and the answer was a resounding no. But I wonder if many of the people replying are maybe quite against them or think I'll get the "trout pout" look but I don't believe that happens if you go for a subtle enhancement.

Really interested to hear from people who've had them.

Here are some pics of my lips. What do you think?

I’ve not had them, but it is something I’m contemplating.

But I wouldn’t say you need them!

Your lips look fine to me . I've rarely seen a good result from fillers , although I haven't seen hundreds, the ones I have seen look awful.

My DD's friend started with a subtle look and has gone to ridiculous size . She says it's because she got used to the 'subtle' look and it didn't seem full enough any more.

macymacy · 28/07/2018 19:58

I've had them, just 0.5ml and I would defy anyone to be able to tell. I had the same issue as you feel you have and it has helped. It's a little stingy and I did bruise and I got a cold sore but it worked and am now even without having a trout pout. Just do your research.

Just to clarify, I think I read your last post...I recall you thinking that your top lip wasn't as full as your bottom? Apologies if I've remembered incorrectly

The top lip is more full on the left than the right and the bottom lip is more full on the right than the left. I'd also rather my top lip a little bigger. It bothers me particularly when I smile.

You could have it evened up with 0.5ml easily, if you're not looking for lots more volume, I'm sure it will look great!

Chrestomanciscat · 28/07/2018 23:15

Unless you go crazy no one will notice!! I've has 0.5 several times, it's subtle as it's not a large amount. I had it to balance a wonky top lip and had a bit put into centre bottom lip just for feminine fullness. Love it! 😊. I've recently turned 40 after 2 children in 3 years and look knackered so have had a few things done. Ultimately it's what matters to you, and what bothers you. X

steamtrain · 29/07/2018 07:14

Chrestomanhiscat that's what I was hoping. I'm not someone who will get carried away and want more & more because, what's really important to me is that no one notices I've had it done. I just want a slight enhancement. I would hate for it to look OTT. Sounds like 0.5 would give me that enhanced look without going overboard.

I've had 0.5ml twice and no one can tell unless I tell them. It evens them up a bit.

Also, the aesthetician will ask what you hope to achieve. I wanted my top lip a bit bigger and more definition at the edges of my mouth, so she concentrated on there.

Pereie · 29/07/2018 09:25

It wears off in about 6 months so if you don't like it it's not a disaster. Start of with 0.5ml and you can always add more if you want.

I say go for it. Not much to loose really x

paintitgrey · 29/07/2018 10:04

I had 0.5ml in my top lip. I thought about it for a while then decided to go for it. I'm in my mid 40s and do look very young for my age, but have always had a smaller upper lip. I felt with age and getting a chubbier face that my upper lip was getting a little lost and that I was loosing definition in my face as a whole. I was just generally feeling not as young as I used to! Having it done added definition to my lower face.

The absolute best bit of advice I can give you is make sure you choose where you go really really carefully. I didn't know anyone who had it done and I didn't particularly want to advertise it to everyone either!

I spoke to my beautician (I've been going to her for 8 years) and she was able to give me really good advice as her clients tell her about their experiences and where's good, where's not etc. I paid slightly more to go to the place in my nearest town that apparently is the highest rated (well by word of mouth anyway). I also spent ages going through photos of lips on their social media (although obviously any bad treatments won't go on there ☺️).

One thing to be aware of. I was told I may bruise and to have the treatment when I didn't have anything on for around 3 days. When I had the treatment the lady said I bled a lot (much more so than the average person) and that would probably result in bruising. My god it did! It wasn't my lip that bruised, but the area above - for 2 weeks!!! It was black and purple. I had to work from home for a week and then wear really heavy make up for the second week (which didn't really work). I honestly wasn't expecting that and it was difficult to factor into my life. People must have known what I had done. I think I was an unusual case through and people don't normally bruise like this - I was surprised as I didn't think I particularly had a problem with bruising easily.

Mine wore off after 7 months and I miss it. It was very subtle, but made a big difference to how I felt.

Another thing to consider, if you like it, you're going to want to keep having it done. That's a lot of money over time. I really want to have it done again, but I don't have a spare £200 right now and I also don't have a 2 week window to recover from the bruising. I will have it done later this year through. I don't know how I will handle the bruising window through!

Good luck with whatever you decide! Just be really careful about where you go even if it means paying more. In this case I think cheap really isn't good.
