Non damaging hair dye?

Can anyone recommend a semi permanent or permanent hair dye that doesn't damage and dry out your hair too much? Or are they all basically the same? My hair is medium neutral brown with 10% grey. Thanks for any suggestions 🙂

I’ve just used an organic hairdresser for highlights and am very impressed as it hasn’t dried my hair out compared to previous occasions.

Depends on colour your looking for but organic ones are good or INFLASHY are really good for bold colours etc.

Lush henna is fabulous for your hair, but comes in a limited range of colours and I've found it best for a 'girls night in' arrangement where you and a mate apply each others! Leaves my hair fabulously shiny and swishy for a good 4-6 weeks though.

@MonaChopsis I wish I could use henna but it turns the grey bits a luminous orange 😬

@Willowcat77 Shock I hope you're not referring to my carefully curated copper highlights Wink

Does even the Henna Brun or Noir leave greys red?

Willowcat77 · 27/07/2018 15:58

@MonaChopsis 🙃 Do you know if the black henna Lush sell is less vibrant on grey? Apparently it contains indigo...

I use a mix of Marron and Brun, and have a very dark chestnut colour, with (cough) carefully curated copper highlights becoming more apparent with age and sunlight Wink

My friend used a mix of Brun and Indigo for the first time in the last session we did (she had previously used just Brun). It definitely stopped the grey hairs turning copper, but it also appears to have washed out faster. Not sure how just Indigo would look... Interestingly, her hair took a couple of days to go really dark after being dyed, it wasn't instant.

I find Herbatint very good.

I have also used Daniel Field which is very gentle but ring their excellent customer service as the colours come up darker than other brands

Massive thumbs up for Daniel Field water colours - they saved my hair! Only works if going darker, so your white bits could be turned the same colour as the rest of your hair. Doesn't work to lighten. No peroxide or PPD, meaning great colour and condition.
