Microblading help

Hi, hoping that someone with experience of microblading will be able to help.

I have made enquiries with a local beautician about getting my brows microbladed. She has advised that I have HD brows first followed by the microblading treatment 48 hours later. Any ideas why this might be the case? I haven't been able to find anything on google relating to this and tbh the HD brow procedure seems a bit pointless if they're going to be microbladed two days later (unless it involves some sort of patch test?)...

Sorry for being clueless, have no experience of getting my brows done professionally. Any thoughts welcomed!

No idea why she said that other than money. I’ve had mine microbladed and you do not need HD first.

Thank you, that was what I suspected!

Can I ask, were you happy with the results?

I've never heard of this. Surely the whole point of microblading is that it looks much more subtle and natural than HD brows?

Very happy OP, I went from practically no brows to having very real looking brows and doing my make up is now hardly any effort. Make sure you see a lot of the artists work first.

I didn’t have hd brows either.

Thank you for your replies all, very helpful! Xx

Would she be doing the he brows for you? Having had had brows and micro blading I can only think it might be so she can test out a new shape or colour for you before committing to the semi-permanent tattoo e.g. if your current brows are quite fair but you are going quite a bit darker with the tattoo. Otherwise there is no need to do it.

Does she have a gallery of pics available of work she has done? If so, are they all different or is she a one shape wonder? Microblading is amazing but I don’t think I would want the had look permanently- if they are done a bit softer you can use the had powder palette to darken/bold them up for nights out etc.

No my Microblading lady never suggested that to me, if you have doubts then look at other microbladers as there are some shockingly bad ones out there.

I've been following her Instagram account for quite a while and I'd say she does offer different shapes and fullness, etc.

My 'current' brows are naturally dark but sparse and have never recovered from my heavy-handed over-plucking as a teen in the 90s! So I'm not sure if HD brows would work for me anyway?

Have just text her and asked if I can just book in for microblading without HD beforehand.

It might just be something she recommends so you can have 2 days of getting used to the heavier shape before committing. In some ways it might not be a bad thing as it would be better to find out you don’t like her style for a temp process rather than for tattooing.

The first time I got mine tattooed I freaked as they looked like they had been drawn on with a sharpie (in the days before microblading) and they always look bigger and waaay darker when they are first done and take a few weeks to settle so she might have had people complaining that they are too dark/bold etc and getting the hd brows first helps people to adjust.

Good luck and I hope you love your new brows.
