Hennaheads thread

Hi,

I've discovered henna and wanted to chat to some long term henna users. I was after a reddy brown conker colour but I came out with a strawberry blonde ginger which is lovely and it's not awful BUT it's definitely not what I wanted. I had bleached blonde hair before I used caca marron from lush. Is anyone well-traversed in the way of henna to tell me how I get from a strawberry blonde ginger to a more autumny auburn shade? Obviously using henna again - not a box dye!! Thanks for any help!!

I used Lush henna for ages , I had my light near blonde hair (dyed not natural, I'd used Superdrug +highlights for a year or so) cropped then used the Brun.

Lush do 4 shades IIRC -rouge, marron, brun, noir

I started mixing the brun with noir ,( 3:1 then 2:2 ) it went darker like a red setter .
It will oxidise and darken over the next 24-48 hours .

It's one of the nice things with henna that you can mix it.
Also , keeping your head warm (clingfilm and a towel) brings out redder tones.

Beware of anything with indigo and bleached hair , it can go green Shock

Patch test a strand , you don't need to cut it off , just section a piece , tie with thread, henna and wrap in clingfilm.
No metal- no plastic or pyrex bowl, no foil, plastic spoon.

There are some huge Lush henna threads on here too !

Natural redhead that's getting too light- I'm looking for rich dark copper too. I used Lush Rouge years ago and it went luminous orange..

Hello, I'm a massive fan of henna! Just one thing I'd recommend about mixing henna and indigo: beware that you can get heavy build up of indigo over time with repeat use. I ended up with jet black hair accessorised with chestnut red roots which looked a bit weird. I have gradually lifted the black out of my hair over the last year but it was a right faff.

Logically, if I mix marron with brun I may be lucky enough to get a redsetter colour! Brun with noir sounds really dark?!!
