Do I go with my hair in its natural state, or straighten it? Quick Answers Needed

Tomorrow morning we are taking ds for his first hair cut. It's a barbers for men's hair technically, but the lady who does my nails and eyebrows two doors down recommended them to me, as both businesses have known each other for years, and the lady has had her hair cut by the lady who owns it. Also dh has seen them cutting ladies hair. So I'm going to ask her if she will do mine at some point.
I have naturally curly hair that is very dry and frizzy, and nearly hip length (I haven't had my hair done for nearly 6 years). Usually I straighten it as it I prefer it straight.
So my question is: should I straighten it as normal before I go, so it's easier for her to see?, or do I leave it completely natural so she can see how my natural hair is, with nothing done to it? It was not be getting done tomorrow, it's just so she can see it. (I'm wanting the bare minimum taken off, and layers, my parting and fringe put back in ideally, if that makes a difference? Thanks.

well honestly hip length and curly sounds gorgeous and unusual, no way would I be straightening it, I'd be finding a way to tackle the frizz!

If you usually have it straight and you will have it straight when they do cut it (no wash and dry) then go like that. If you plan on it being straightened by them when you need it cut (so wash, dry, straighten and cut) then they need to know how big the task is.

If you usually wear it straight and are wanting to continue to straighten it after it's cut, then I would say wear it straight. If they just want to see it, then I don't think it matters.

My hair is naturally curly and I straighten it a lot. When my hair was longer, I wore it curly more so went to the hairdressers with it curly so they could see how it fell curled. Now it's shorter I straighten its mostly, so tend to straighten it for the hairdressers. It's also easier to get a dry trim when I do that too!

I'd leave it natural and tell her that you normally straighten it - she'll easily be able to visualise how it would look straightened, but if you straighten it first it'll be harder to explain what it looks like in its natural state.

I'd leave it natural. If she says it would help to see it straightened before cutting it, presumably you could straighten it before your own appointment or even pop in another time, like when you go to have your nails done. But I imagine she'd prefer to see it natural (and can imagine what it is like when straight).

I should say it's hip length when it's down and straight, not when it's curly. I've tried to deal with the frizz and so far I have failed miserably. If I could find a way that works, I would consider leaving it curly sometimes, but until then, my ghd's will continue to be my best friend.

Have you looked at the Curly Girl method at all? There's a Facebook group called the Curly Crew that is good to explain it all. I've only recently started but my curls are much less frizzy already.

Thanks all for the advice. I decided it was best to let her see it in its complete natural state first. I asked her if she would prefer me to leave it as it was for the cut or straighten it, and she said whichever I prefer.
Anyway I'm getting it done tomorrow morning. And she said there isn't as much to come off as I thought, which is good to hear. Looking forward to it actually.
