Home electrolysis gadgets - any experiences/anecdotes/urban folklore?

Just wondering, you used to see them in Innovations and old lady catalogues. I've always fancied electrolysis on the armpits but too tight to pay a professional in case it's all bunkum anyway.

I tried one ages ago from one of those catalogues (the Innovations one, I hasten to add, not the old lady one ). It was crap and a total waste of money - it didn't remove one single hair. And that was in the days when I only had fine hairs on my top lip so it wasn't even because the hairs were too thick or coarse for it.

Don't waste your money!

I've read that they are all rubbish. I have been having electrolysis for years, on and off. I have seen them in argos and e-bay, but so far, and I would part with quite alot of money, if I thought it was worth it, am yet to be convinced.

Have one of those home electrolysis kits, its rubbish. Don't waste your money please!

LOL, it's unanimous! So does 'getting it done' work then?

Hmm, I'm not convinced by it to be honest! I've had it a few times on a few very stubborn hairs, and they remain very stubborn!

I had electrolysis done at a salon but wouldn't recommend that, either. It was extremely painful, left me with big red sore spots, and the hair grew back (and brought reinforcements with it) anyway.

Laser hair removal is expensive but apparently works ... can't afford it though, so it's waxing all the way.

Yeah I looked into that once, was about £900 for two armpits. Or was that just for one?

I'm a fan of my epilator. But not for underarms, just too painful.

Now-adays, I just knit my moustache into my goatee, twist it into my nipple hair and attach that to my tummy hair and plait that to my 'drop the dead donkey' patches that stick out from my bikini.
Sorted. Who needs electrolysis ??
