Cursed with wide feet and bunions... where to buy comfy shoes that aren't UGLY?!!

WTAFIGO · 18/07/2018 13:46

Just that really, my feet make it tricky to buy nice shoes, both casually and for work. I had a bunion removed and can only wear flats, a very, very small (relatively thick) heel or a wedge.

I struggle to find a store where I can buy shoes that aren't terribly ugly. Birkenstocks and Crocs are a big No No!

Even stores which have wide fitting options (New Look, Next) etc are hit and miss. Any recommendations out there, I've bad feet but still want to be stylish despite having 'Ugly Sister' rather than Cinderella feet!

Hotter are excellent and really comfy, and while some styles do look pretty orthopaedic, others are cute.

Clarks are also good for wide feet - the K range is good. For a specific style, I like the Manilla Bonita: gladiator-style sandals that come in various colours, and are forgiving on bunions because of where the straps fall.

Thank you, will check out Hotter :)

Vionic are the most comfortable and stylish for me.My feet don’t find Clark’s & Hottees comfortable at all for some reason.

teta · 18/07/2018 14:20

Hotters even.

I came across a brand called calla shoes the other day, designed to fit/hide bunions. They looked really nice

WTAFIGO · 18/07/2018 16:33

Thank you Tata and Allertse

I have ugly wide feet and wear Adidas sliders, basic converse and Seasalt do amazing boots.

Ifonlyiweretaller · 18/07/2018 16:57

Thanks for suggesting Vionic @teta - I'd never heard of them but just ordered four pairs! Toes crossed they'll suit my trotters...

MinaPaws · 18/07/2018 17:01

M&S footgloves for wide feet have some really pretty and classic styles at times.

Van Dal are worth a look, my late mil used to wear styles reminiscent of what the Queen wears from them but they actually have many more styles and colours.

WTAFIGO · 18/07/2018 17:06

These all look brilliant!

Ifonlyiweretaller Vionic are truly brilliant. I heard about them a few months ago on here. I now have 7 pairs - boots, loafers, espadrilles and flip flops. They are so so comfy and stylish. I tend to buy new off eBay and legend footwear and on sale though.

Katescurios · 18/07/2018 18:58

I like skechers, they do some sandals and ballerina style flats so not all trainers.

Redken24 · 18/07/2018 18:59

I have a pair of Keds that are quite comfortable.
Also I like Clarks boots.
Find converse quite narrow.

Brown76 · 18/07/2018 19:01

Fit flops have some quite attractive sandals

friendlyflicka · 18/07/2018 19:05

Some Kurt Geiger shoes fit me well, Fitflop are good as well.

torthecatlady · 18/07/2018 19:07

I buy from Simply Be and Yours online in a 6eee and they fit well. I can't get into highstreet store wide fitting.

TheClitterati · 18/07/2018 22:14

For something a bit quirky check out Wolky

OhTheRoses · 18/07/2018 22:20

Gabor too to add to the list.

WTAFIGO · 18/07/2018 22:24

All fantastic suggestions , thank you so much. I have ordered many, many shoes today. I feel very optimistic !
