Flip Flops have given me plantar fascia

Or however it's spelt.

Anyway, my summer sandals etc have given me chronic foot pain and I can't wait to get back into my chunky boots when my feet will right themselves.

In the meantime, what can I do? It's too hot for normal shoes and trainers don't make a difference.

I stretch my feet as much as I can, but shoe recommendations would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Can anyone recommend any slippers? We have wooden floors and no shoes on in the house so it’s not helping! Fitflops have been amazing for when out though OP.

Vionic sandals and trainers help mine hugely - some are fugly but others are fine!

In winter I wear Moshulu boots with orthotics in around the house but they are too hot in summer. I wear an old pair of Birkenstocks around the house in summer.

Umbrella similar flooring here too so I wear the Croc clogs for slippers - absolutely not pretty but very comfortable and very practical and extremely kind to my feet

For other times brands I wear;
Croc sandals
Ecco
Merrel
Walking sandals

Yep, Birkenstocks. I like the soft footbed Arizonas. They're a bit more expensive than some others but so comfy, and the double strap means they stay on your foot really well.

Supportive shoes,Skechers, fit flops,Earth spirit I've found to be good. Don't be tempted to go hack to your flip flops if it's feels better.... freeze a water bottle and roll your foot over it,and arch support insoles. It will go but it's bloody annoying!

Re slippers - we used to live in a house with wooden and stone floors so I stomped around in Ugg boots which were fine. We've now moved to a house with laminate floors and as it's been so hot, I've been going barefoot. Silly me!!

It looks like this is the rule - feet warm in the winter, cool in the summer.

My feet feel better this morning but I haven't got out of bed yet!!

I suffer with Plantar Fasciitis too, just my left foot, it has caused the arch to drop and my foot to roll over slightly.

See a podiatrist to be fitted with supportive insoles, I wear simplex 3/4 insoles that provide arch support and physio exercises to help strengthen the tendon.

The worse thing you could wear on your feet at the moment based on my experience is totally flat sandals, flip flops, as they will put more strain on the plantar.

The podiatrist advised me to wear the insoles in trainers for maximum support, PF can take upto a year to heal. Often PF can lead to Achilles heel issues too.

A cool can or bottle of water rolled under the foot can help, as can losing weight.

Good luck OP I know how painful it can be.

I've had PF several times, and it's horrible, so my sympathies to you OP. Good advice here, would also add what has worked for me is changing shoes often (I work from home so easy for me to do) - at present varying between Crocs clogs with a cushiony insole, Clark's sandals, and Clark's leather mules, both with good arch support - but different. I think varying shoes means your arches don't get accustomed to one shape. Also found a wooden foot roller invaluable, as well as the spiky ball. Also lots of calf stretches - I do this a lot, every time I pass the stairs just stand on the bottom stair but let my heels drop down.
