Sandals rubbing

hi all
does anyone have this problem that every sandal ever made causes rubbing and then a sort of sore patch?

I know two people who have this and it's not normally an issue but this summer it's been weeks of wearing sandals all day. I tried putting micropore tape across the bits that were getting sore but that doesn't work too well if you have to walk longer than 5 minutes!

what do others do? I can't wear the fit flop type things, the toe post drives me nuts!

thanks.

I have the Clarks Botanic Rose sandals and have worn them for weeks without my feet hurting Smile

ReluctantlyRedundant101 · 16/07/2018 19:29

Can you put insoles in them?
I find the ones that hurt are because your feet are sliding around in them so you need something to soak up the sweat

Redundancy1 · 16/07/2018 19:31

sorry maybe I should have been clearer

I don't mean my feet hurt

I mean some part of the top of the sandal will rub the skin on top of the foot and create redness and soreness which in my case becomes like an eczema patch very quickly.

x post

my feet aren't sliding in them, I'm not a sweaty person (that sounds funny)

sorry for your reluctant redundancy btw!

You can put Vaseline on the sore bits and on the sandal to lubricate where it's rubbing

And work out of they are too big or too small. If too big: what Reluctantly said. If too small - you can buy shoe stretchers on Amazon

Yes yes to vaseline be on your foot!

Redundancy1 · 16/07/2018 19:36

ooh Vaseline, I have some! I will do that tomorrow - they're leather sandals so should be fine.

thanks. Smile

I think it depends on what material the straps are made from. I have these and they don't rub at all:

Compeed blister stick, just run across the areas that rub, et voila, they don't rub anymore.

snowgirl1 · 16/07/2018 19:37

Have you tried putting some kind of lubricant on where they rub? I've used body glide, but it's quite expensive - you could google other anti-chafe products. I've also used vaseline when I've run out of body glide.

Madbengalmum · 16/07/2018 19:37

Or alternatively Dasco do a sandal spray for the same issue. Both good products

AsAProfessionalFekko · 16/07/2018 19:38

I've got fitflop sandals and they don't rub at all.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 16/07/2018 19:39

(They haven't made me any fitter or toned my bum though)

CloudsAway · 16/07/2018 19:44

yes. Every pair of sandals ever has rubbed on me. I have tried so many brands and kinds; best yet are ones that are almost all-over suede straps, but even then there are bits where there are seams or joins or harder bits of leather or something, and I also always rub on the soles of my feet.

I use the Fresh'ins thin insoles to reduce sweat, the Compeed blister stick on sore spots, compeed plasters every day on heels and tops of toes, and then Engo anti-friction patches that you stick on the shoes themselves - I buy about 4 per shoe of the large rectangle ones and basically cover the inside. Sometimes also the bamboo liner socks, depending on the shape of the sandal and whether any of it can be hidden.

It sort of helps. Reduces the number of blisters perhaps, or at least makes them bleed less.

Redundancy1 · 16/07/2018 20:31

I am googling all these
Thanks so much

I get blisters in all sorts of places and I tend to break shoes in by wearing them around the house in increasing increments. This year though I have some Paver's that have never rubbed anywhere and DD some espadrilles from Damart and they haven't rubbed her either

duvetfan · 16/07/2018 21:16

Not RTFT so sorry if this has been said but I had this on holiday and used lanacane anti chafing gel on my feet and it stopped the rubbing. Just a suggestion.

Iamnotacerealkiller · 16/07/2018 21:22

A good trick i learned is to put a plaster on the SHOE not on your foot :)

BlameItOnTheNeon · 17/07/2018 01:50

I find rubbing stick deodorant on the areas of the shoe which rubs solves it :)
