Zo medical or medik8

I’ve just discovered this part of the forum and have lost a whole morning rummaging through s+b threads - total bliss!

I’m looking for some different perspectives on different ranges now I’m getting older - early 40’s, very fair with clear skin and fine lines - and need more help to get great skin.

I’ve been getting Botox for about 5 years but that didn’t help the criss-cross hatchet lines around my eyes so have been using the zo medical/obagi eye cream for the last year or so and have noticed a positive impact but at over £100 for a small tube, it’s quite expensive and I could do with something as effective but cheaper if such a thing exists.

I have seen the medik8 range mentioned on here and could get the whole range for the price of the Zein obagi/zo medical eye cream. Is the medik8 effective? Thanks

Bump - has anyone used medik8 and has it been effective in the areas I need help. Thanks.

I use the Medik8 R-Retinoate and think it's great but would only recommend to someone who has similar issues to mine and can't use more affordable options.

What exactly are you using because there's Obagi (Medical) but Dr. Obagi left the brand and started up ZO (Zein Obagi)? And what are you eyeing up at Medik8, there's a new system that's from the R-Retinoate line but that's over a £100 (I think it's £140) for an intense 4 week cure for fine lines, etc.

I'm considering the Medik8 range too - almost made a purchase last night but got interrupted.
I'm interested in the retinol eye treatment, but more for my crepey upper (rather than lower) eyelids. However I think (in common with most eye creams) it says it shouldn't be applied to upper eyelids, just the brow bone. Now, I'm not sure if this is just to prevent it migrating into the eye itself, or whether the upper eyelid is too thin or something.
I've tried the LRP retinol eye cream (Redermic?) but didn't really notice any improvement. Wondering if the Medik8 one will be any different.

Also, according to the Medik8 website, there are salon treatments available (peels etc) using professional Medik8 treatments, but I can't find any clinics that offer the brand's treatments.

pearlkent, you could consider Dr. Dennis Gross' Ferulic + Retinol Eye Serum (not the cream, you may want to layer a cream over it though depending on how dry you are but you don't need to spend much on it, the Kiehl's Avocado one is nice but the Bioderma Sensibio eye is good too and around a tenner). The Dr. Dennis Gross one is the only product I know of that can be used all over the eye including the lids. It's often out of stock though and I think only available on Cult Beauty, possibly SpaceNK and, obviously, it's not cheap.

The reason most eye products shouldn't be used all over is because they can only say it's safe to do so with expensive testing and the testing for general eye area is already expensive. Depending on your sensitivity you could risk it with other products but it's not something I'd advise doing, especially with retinol containing products, as the ramifications can be pretty severe as the eye area is so delicate and it is a moving part which means healing would be long and tedious.

I am using the zo Zein obagi eye cream but just using L’Oréal moisturiser with spf on my face but would like a good anti aging range and like the sound of the vitamin a, c and spf package which was the vitamin c moisturiser with spf, retinol and an eye cream. All the products I was looking at were out of stock just now.

It was the daily radiance vitamin c moisturiser, the vitamin c eye serum and a retinol product.

I use another brands retinol products at the moment but have micro bladed brows so can’t use harsh products anywhere near my brows.

Well the Vitamin C eye serum would not be comparable to the ZO as it doesn't contain Retinol. Don't get me wrong Vitamin C is great but it won't tackle your issues of fine lines you really need a retinol product for that. You could do the Vitamin C eye cream in the AM and then use a Retinol containing eye cream in the PM.

If you're using retinol you really need to be using a standalone broad-spectrum sunscreen, minimum SPF30 but preferably SPF50, year round without fail and topping up every two hours when out in the sun. It really needs to be taken up and around the eye. A good pair of sunglasses is also pretty essential. Otherwise, you're just throwing money down the drain, an SPF integrated in a moisturiser really doesn't suffice to protect the improvements you make with a retinoid.

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. I think I will just stick with what I am using but upgrade my spf rather than trying the medic8 products. Just have never found one I liked yet. Any suggestions welcome.
