New bra is so tight

I've measured myself according to boobs or bust and tried on at least 15 bras, determined to find one that fits for a change. So, I was wearing a 34 c but have bought a 32 e. It fits perfectly but feels so incredibly tight after a few hours. I was so happy initially as my boobs have been lifted and they feel completely secure. However, as the day has worn on I just feel like I want to rip it off! Do I need to persevere, will it loosen and stretch when it's been washed? It also seems to separate my boobs quite a bit more than I'm used to, I can feel my boobs when I put my arms down by my side. It is a lightly padded t-shirt bra, the cups are huge but there is no gaping and the band sits flat against my chest. I was so hopeful I had found the perfect fit!

Maybe you should get professionally fitted. However I do find that when I buy a bra in my actual size I do find it to be rather tight. Eventually it does start to feel more comfortable. Also you should be wearing it on the loosest hook.

My current wrar was like that. Took a few wears then it was broken in. It's now my fave.

My others get relegated behind it.

i am not keen on tshirt bras, they never seem to be the right shape for my bosoms.

I have a new one on today and I was just thinking I shall be glad to get this off tonight, but it has only started digging as I am slimped in a chair, it's been fine all day

I am wearing a mega comfortable Calvin Klein crop top/bralet - do you definitely need a proper bra? I'm officially 28D using intervention sizing but would wear 30C for comfort in normal bras. Think I got CK one from ASOS.

I'm not sure what to do next. The only shop I could get measured in nearby is M&S which everyone on here seems to say should be avoided. I could get to a Debenhams at some point. The thing is, this bra does seem to be perfect when trying it on, and for a few hours, but once it starts to feel tight I can't stop finding it uncomfortable. Glad I only bought one for least. Maybe a different style? Back to the drawing board I think.

I’m officially a 30E according to the boob or bust but they don’t fit me at all and I’ve tried several brands/styles. Instead I go for a 32D on the tightest hook and it’s perfect. Weirdly I also find I have to wear plunge bra or else it digs in in the middle.

I don't like my actual bra size as I find it too tight !! .. also if it's too tight I get overspill at the back ( yes I need to lose a bit of weight 😬)

IcedPurple · 14/07/2018 16:39

Bras - like jeans - are supposed to feel tight when you first buy them, though not painfully so. After a few washes, they will loosen up considerably, so if you buy one that feels nice 'n' comfy at first, within a few weeks it won't offer you any support. This is one of the reasons why most British women are wearing bras which are too big for them in the band area. The general advice - go down one band size and up one cup size - really is true.

Use a bra extender until it gives a little?

sonjadog · 14/07/2018 23:05

I have just been through the same experience! My bras fitted perfectly but I could only wear them for about half a day before they felt too tight. About three washes in, they have now started to loosen up and fit and feel really good. I bought three in my new size - two are great and one separates my boobs more than I would like. I don't think I´ll be getting that model again, but will stick with the size.

thedevilinablackdress · 15/07/2018 09:21

Not all bras with the same size on the label have fitted me the same. Some are comfy from the off and I've actually ended up moving quickly to a tighter hook. Others extremely tight, no loosening despite wearing, washing. They went in the charity bag. Others, wee bit tight and then fine.

Fatted · 15/07/2018 09:26

Where is it tight? The back or the shoulders or at the cup? If it's the straps, I'd say try to adjust it or give it a few washes, if it's actually at the breast or on the cups then I'd just try another one.

slipperyeel · 15/07/2018 14:46

This I Why I hate bras. I was measured 32G by bravissimo and using bra intervention. They are soooo tight. By the end of the day I just want to tear it off.
I've gone back to 34F so I can at least function.

mehhh · 15/07/2018 15:03

Have you been measured professionally? I was measured as 30e which felt so tight so I measured myself and was actually like 29 so 30 would be right - went back to shop a sit felt so tight I wouldn't have even bothered wearing it and she suggested a bra extender which I used for a while and now it fits fine without it, I think you just have to wear them in a bit! X

Sonotkylie · 15/07/2018 15:14

I had this with my Bravissimo fitted bras that were only 1 cup size bigger than my old ones. What worked for me was to loosen off the SHOULDER straps completely and then tighten them gently until they sit flat but without being tight. The assistant had massively overtightened the shoulders and I felt it in the back band. I have also noticed that if the shoulder straps are too loose, then the band feels too tight - presumably because its doing too much of the work. So it sees to be a balance and its worth having a fiddle with the shoulders before giving up. Good luck

InglouriousBasterd · 16/07/2018 09:47

I’ve found it’s much worse in the heat! That may be playing a role. That said, I’m meant to be 32gg but I’ve found 34g so so much more comfortable....

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 16/07/2018 10:34

They will give as you wear them. It’s like shoes, even if they fit right they often need a bit of breaking in
