What to wear to a child's ice-skating party

Probably seems like a daft question but I've actually never been ice skating and I'm not even sure how cold the rink will be.
DD age 7 has been invited to an ice skating party, parents have been asked to come along "ready to skate"(!), too. I know I'm probably over-thinking it but not sure what DD or myself should wear. DD is very feminine and wants to wear a dress! I've told her she can't as it's not appropriate for the ice but not sure what would actually be appropriate. Leggings/jeans/long sleeves? Will she need a jacket/hat/gloves? Any help appreciated!

You'd be surprised how much of a heat you can build up skating! Scarves are usually not allowed (for safety reasons) but gloves should be word (for safety reasons)

I usually wear jeans with a long sleeve top and a hoody/body warmer - something easy to take off. I always wear a hat but end up taking it off after a while (the safety sign actually says no hats but everyone wears them)

A dress would probably be fine if she had tights or leggings on underneath.

She can wear a hoodie and jeans or leggings, but big thick coats are unnecessary as are gloves and scarves, if she wants to wear a dress she can wear it to the party and put leggings underneath and a light zipper or jumper on when she’s about to get on the ice..female ice dancers wear dresses and tights ect..
You can wear whatever you like, normally casual clothes for ice skating. Though advised wear thick socks that aren’t trainer socksthe ice skates can get sore around the leg

Gloves are necessary for safety reasons (to protect the fingers just that little bit more if you fall over in front of someone who can't stop).

Otherwise just wear something that's easy to move in.

Jeans are fine (as long you can bend over to tie up your shoes in them!) leggings under a dress is fine. Layering is important most people skate in long sleeve tops with body warmers or a fleece on top that they can take off if they get too warm.

Gloves are strongly recommended, not for the 'skate over your hand protection' but to cut down on ice burn if you do fall and skid along on your hands.

I don't wear thick socks, but I would make sure your socks are long ish, as the tops of the boots can rub like mad.
