I’m currently using the Jan Marini physical protectant. It’s fine but I’d prefer something untinted that I can also use on my neck/back of hands. It’s a tad drying which I can manage with some lotion on my cheeks but in winter the dryness is worse. Also, the tint is a little obvious when I’m not tanned.
Any suggestions? Is Ultrasun any good for the face? I don’t get on with the LRP ones. Thanks.

I’ve got the avene face sunscreen. I like it, it’s not sticky or streaky like the dcs factor 50. I’ve not used it a lot but I like the feel of it.
I seem to get on really well with the rest of the avene anti redness range.

Thanks Squirrel. Do you know which Avene one do you use? They have a few different ones in Boots. Is it this one?

Boots often seem to do offers on avene too :)

I like the Andalou Naturals BB SPF 30 untinted. It has 20% zinc oxide which is great. It is marketed for oily skin, but I have dry skin and it works for me. Depending on how much you apply, it can go a little white and greasy at first but it does dry down. I normally add a drop of foundation to avoid the white cast

Thanks; I see you can order it in Holland and Barret’s Website and it’s not too expensive.
I’ll have to have a look at the Avene one, too.

In the past I've found that sunscreens can irritate my rosacea. As unprotected sun exposure can exacerbate it too it was a lose/lose.

I've tried a lot of different sun creams, from the cheapo to the expensive.
By far the best I've found is this Clinique one Clinique facial sunscreen they do it in factor 50 or 30.

It doesn't just prevent my rosacea from getting worse but it improves its appearance too, although admittedly it is comparatively expensive it's the best I've found.

Thanks for reminding me about the Clinique one, Purple. I had it a few years ago but was going through pregnancy acne and wrote it off as contributing to the spots (which I don’t think it was, in hindsight). I don’t tend to get so much flushing in the hot weather, maybe because the moisture levels are better in my skin compared to during winter when the wind and cold sets off the flushing. Who knows.

I use Biore Watery Essence ), a SPF 50 from a Korean company. I buy mine off Amazon. I don't have rosacea, just sensitive skin and this is the best I've used. It goes on well over moisturiser.

My rosacea prone skin likes physical sunscreens. Physical sunscreens can also be layered on top of prescription creams.

My favourite now is Sunsense Sensitive Invisible 50+ but you can’t get it in the UK as far as I’ve looked, I bought some on a trip home and have a relation bringing more over this month. It contains niamicide so it’s soothing and it sits really well under foundation on my very dry skin.

It’s far too sticky for anything other than my face so I use Altruist on my neck and body which is also brilliant, totally non sticky - and available on Amazon. I’ve used it on my face too when I haven’t been wearing makeup and it’s been fine but my skin is slightly too dry for it to wear well all day under foundation.
