If T-shirts were perfume, where's the Jo Malone/Penhaligons?

My sister has requested "nice t-shirts with a really simple shape" for her birthday. She is v stylish and usually into labels I have never heard of so wondering if any similarly sartorially blessed Mumsnetters can tell me where all the cool, hip, quality loving people shop for theirs please? My sister tends to get her stuff from a mixture of Liberty and achingly hip pop ups in London. I know I can ask her but I'd love to surprise her with something perfect!

Have a look on TK Maxx for brands like James Perse and Jakke.

Toast. A white tea is an awful gift to have to buy as everyone is looking for The Perfect One but everyone’s Perfect is slightly different.

Hobbs

Liberty of London and Harvey Nics.

From there, you can look up the hip brands. I’d try Isabel Marant for simple shirts. Also ask on the French thread running - they talk a lot about understated, quality pieces so they can probably help.

I think the best by far are Uniqlo.

But if you want the 'JoMalone/Penhaligons' type of brand reputation, then try Agnes B

There was an interesting feature in one of the Sunday papers the other week (Telegraph fashion section, maybe) where the journalist tried out every single white t-shirt she could get her hands on and came to the conclusion that none was perfect but the £4.50 one from M&S was the closest thing to perfection as she could find. Hang on and I'll try to find it.

Zadig and Voltaire do nice simple t-shirts

DeepInFrance · 11/07/2018 08:13

Uniqlo, and also Le Petit Bateau.

Possibly more high street than hip, but I've found that COS does amazing plain tees. 100% cotton, they don't stretch or change shape when washed. And they're well priced

Else Acne does fab tees, too. Albeit pricey ones!

Gruach · 11/07/2018 08:51

Acne is more the Etat libre d'Orange of t shirts, surely??

Cos are great and do loads of different ones. The article about white tshirts was in the Times' Saturday magazine.

lurkingfromhome · 11/07/2018 11:48

So it was, thanks!

I'm liking Arket for T-shirts at the moment but will try Cos next.

Since Jo Malone is considered overpriced cologne that last two minutes on the perfumista thread maybe you should look at Hush. Styled gorgeously and their cuts are good but pretty thin material.

Sonotkylie · 11/07/2018 18:49

Jigsaw? Simple, plain, unexciting but the one I want to wear every day. Wash well

QueenJulian · 11/07/2018 19:09

J Crew or really swish, Agnes B.

MerryDeath · 11/07/2018 19:26

my nicest t-shirt is from Splendid

Chanelprincess · 11/07/2018 21:32

Net a Porter or My Theresa

AllFakeFurCoatAndNoSpanx · 12/07/2018 11:47

Thanks everyone!
