Shoes for teen girls to walk on hot weather

Going away for a city break where we'll be doing a fair bit of walking in warm weather . My teen and tween dds only ever wear adidas superstars and I think they're going to be too heavy , clunky and hot . They say they'll be fine but I don't want moaning later . Dh suggested some decent karrimor trekking sandals which they opposed vehemently . They are very style conscious but we need a compromise . Any suggestions for comfortable, lightweight shoes or sandals that teen girls would like ? I miss when they were little and would just live in Clark's doodles !

I've just bought some skechers sandals and I love them, so so so comfortable. The sketches shoes and trainers seems to trap heat so although comfy for walking, my feel felt like they were melting. The sandals are great.

Karrimor trekking sandals for teens? I'm not surprised they opposed them vehemently! I'm 38 and wouldn't be caught dead in them.
Let them wear the superstars. They'll be fine.

Yes i know Hilda. I knew they wouldn't consider them in a million years but gave it a shot as dh thought they were fabulous and the girls would love them Grin

Ipanema sandals are gorgeous, I've walked miles and miles in mine, and some of my friends with plantar f say they're the only sandals they can wear. All the teens here wear them, they do loads of styles.

They don't look supportive bit they are, and they are excellent for walking over cobbles, climbing over rocky beaches etc. Its like walking on clouds Grin

Something like these perhaps?

Some of these suggestions are funny, they're teenagers not 40 year old women!! I agree to let them wear what they want and maybe get something lighter out there if they change their mind.

When I go on holiday I buy sandals and after about 2 days of walking I go back to my loyal old trainers.

Could you just get them to look at some lighter type Adidas (or other) branded trainers? My 13 year old wears a much lighter fabric trainer in summer which we got for £25 in JD Sport sale. She also wears Nike Air Rifts which she finds comfy in high heat. Better for her than sandals and the sale bargains are cheap enough to bin if ruined by sand/ dust etc.

girls sound sensible, city break needs covered toes. nothing cringier than dippy women in sandals blubbering when toes get stubbed, trodden on or covered in dog shit or other muck.

get them some decent bloke trainer socks and change each day.

aaatozedd · 14/07/2018 20:47

Trainers sound a good option. Teens for some mysterious reason don't seem to care how hot their feet get Grin

seasure · 14/07/2018 22:22

I think trainers will be better . The superstars are very heavy as trainers go so maybe the best option would be lightweight trainers .

I think Nike Roshe, or similar, will be the best option. Loads of lightweight trainers around that they would prefer to any sort of sandals. Otherwise, leave them with the Superstars. My 14 yo DD wears only Vans or CK slides at the moment.

Let them wear trainers .....unless you are all sharing a room Grin
