This gadget has actually changed my life. I still shave every 3 weeks then use the lumea but then there is hardly any regrowth until the next time. I have the essential corded model which was £150. Worth every penny. Just wanted to recommend!

I am considering buying this. What part/parts of your body do you use it on?

smashyourglasses · 07/07/2018 21:49

Are these as good as laser?

rainbowfudgee · 07/07/2018 22:20

I've never had laser treatments do I can't compare.

Legs, underarms, bikini line

does it hurt?

SarahBeeney · 07/07/2018 23:35

I really want one but think I have the wrong skin/hair type.
I'm olive skinned and hair is not jet black. It's v dark on my armpits though.

LadyoftheChateau · 08/07/2018 06:46

@sarahbeeny I'm the same as you and it's worked for me. Life changing.

rainbowfudgee · 08/07/2018 06:55

99% of it is pain free and I use the highest setting. Around my ankles and knees it can be slightly sensitive. Feels like a rubber band snapping lightly.

Ideal skin tone is pale with dark hair. This is me. I have pcos. It's not great if you like tanning apparently but I hardly tan anyway.

Ive got one of these. Great results but no way can I manage it on the highest setting! I can only use it on ‘3’.

Brings me out in a terrible heat rash too - those itchy bumps there’s a name for...

rainbowfudgee · 08/07/2018 07:01

Interesting- I used to get itchy red bumps when I was shaving every day but they have completely gone now.

Lady now I'm tempted!

SarahBeeney · 08/07/2018 11:52

I can't find one for £150. Rainbow where is yours from?

user1471530109 · 08/07/2018 11:56

I have had one for a couple of years (I paid a lot more than £150!). It worked brilliantly whilst I used it. I haven't for a good 12 months and im Back to the way I was. So you need to do it constantly.

Yes. I'd say it's as good as laser. I have had that too and that also was great for a while now it's back to where it was.

I've dug it out a mth ago. Need to be more strict.

SporkInTheToaster · 08/07/2018 12:07

You do have to keep it up, every 14-16 weeks once you’ve done the initial course. It isn’t ‘permanent’ as in, a single course resulting in permanent hair removal but it does suppress my hair brilliantly if I keep up the maintenance zaps every few months. Brilliant gadget, especially for bikini line business.

I paid about £300 for mine a couple of years ago. It was the £450 one, on an offer in Boots. They very often have £100+ off. Worth looking out for if you’re in the market for one.

I use it on 5 but I can’t agree that it is painless. It does get hot and it does sting like a bastard on sensitive bits. Worth it though, especially when you get to the point of doing it a few times a year for maintenance.

rainbowfudgee · 08/07/2018 13:37

Mine was from Tesco Direct in the autumn. It's a very basic model with no attachments and has a power cord but it definitely does the job!
I always do sensitive bits first before it gets a chance to heat up.

I love mine. I only use it on my underarms and in summer but it works great in holding off in quick regrow th

I have to use it on one arm. Wait for it to cool and then use it on the other. It does hurt me but it's a relatively short time so I suck it up

yearofthehorse · 08/07/2018 14:59

Mine has turned my thick black coarse leg hair into fluffy blond which I occasionally shave but usually don't bother. Truly amazing.

FlirtyRomanticToast · 08/07/2018 22:37

I'm seriously considering one of these. Does anyone have any experience of which model would be better; the SC1997 (€245 in Argos) or the BRI863/00 (€190 in Boots)?

Seems obvious that the more expensive model is probably better but is it €55 better?? I'd really love to get one.

elQuintoConyo · 08/07/2018 22:40

I have one of a different brand (name escapes me, sorry) and it is bloody fantastic. I am milky white with big black spiders splatted everywhere and they're practically all gone! Buy one! Buy one!
