Spots! What can I use?

My had a bad outbreak of spots. Last year I used to take anti biotics to help them but stopped as they were making me feel ill. Anyway I am bridesmaid next weekend and they're worse than ever! They're all over my neck and jawline and on my forehead and cheeks. They're mainly red but there's loads.
What can I use to get rid of them?? I have a week! I'm drinking as much as I can. It seems to be the one side but I still have a few on the other side

This may sound weird but is the 'one bad side' the side you're sleeping on? Could it be your pillow case that's irritating it? Just a thought

I'm going back on anti biotics when I can get back to my doc. My cystic spots are back with a vengeance. Pah! They are so painful and are unsqueezable and still leave a red mark. I've been trying those little salicylic dots but they only work on normal spots on me. They might help you?

Only thing I've ever found work for me is LRP effaclar duo.

candlefloozy · 07/07/2018 21:47

@Rememory I'll have a look. Well husband suggested the pillow case but I love been changing it every other day?
Maybe I need to do it everyday. Unsure whether it's hormones?

@MissMarplesKnitting thank you. I'll have a look at that

Acne is often influenced by diet I have found. Not just typical junk food either, could be anything. Dairy, citrus fruits, grains... etc. It's bloody complicated.

Could also be an sensitivity to the products you use... washing powder, shampoo etc.

And then hormonal imbalances.

Fucking hate acne.

Neutrogena spot stress control facial wash has worked for me. I haven't had a spot since I started using it a year ago, and they were gone within a week of using it.

Spots! What can I use?

Before bed - Panoxyl 2.5 % - a thin layer all over affected area. Then a layer of "clean and clear" oil free moisturiser .

^^ dont try this under make up.

Also witch hazel gel liberally applied (when in the house) will take redness down . Keep it in the fridge.

My skin got really bad a year ago but 6 wks ago was horrendous with a lumpy spot on my nose and a patch the size of a big 50p piece on my cheek made up of a central massive (angry) deep-seated spot and around 10 smaller (angry) spots. Went to the GP but only locum available. She gave me a prescrip for cream which in mins totally aggravated my skin to the extent it started peeling off. I washed off immed but my skin went red and weepy. So I rang up and she told me to try Neutrogena cream face wash and Neutrogena oil free moisturiser (the ones with a pink stripe, not orange or green packaging). My skin is now (2 wks later) calmer and not so greasy - she told me don't overstrip / overclean the skin as it will over-grease itself to try to counter what you do to strip back oil production. This seems to be true! Not saying Neutrogena is a miracle but my skin IS less aggravated day by day. I do tend to have these one week gaps tho and then the whole angry spots situ starts again but I am a bit hopeful so I'd say give these two products a go.

GertyTheGert · 08/07/2018 01:24

PS Locum told me to avoid facial scrubs as my skin is sensitive. What a combo - spotty, lumpy, blackhead-y but sensitive. Bstrd!

@9amTrain I agree with the diet. But apart from Nutella I've always eaten the same things for most of my adult life. I think this is defo something I need to look into though.

I'm defo gonna go to
Boots today and have a good look at everything you've all mentioned. I've got some face wash at the moment but it's obviously not doing anything.

@GertyTheGert I was also prescribed some spot cream and it had the same effect on me! It was horrendous! It was only for the first few days and then my skin became awful! It was like a face peel!!

Dear Candlefloozy - dont know about you but the dreadful peeling and "shocked" skin caused by the cream made everything (spots etc) ten times worse!!! Just to say a few years ago I was under one of the top skin specialists, a Professor of Dermatology (as I developed a skin condition where spotty lumps appeared UNDERNEATH the top layer of my skin (ie were trapped so couldnt "escape" and became boil-like - nice!). He said they are called pustules (yeuk) and food is NIL to do with skin (spots/boils/sensitivity/peeling etc) - sometimes its hormonal, sometimes its skin over-producing oil and sometimes its skin pores blocking themselves and sometimes its a germ which lives in your nostrils (!) - he asked if I sometimes got a very itchy nose which I had to scratch approx around the time of the worst spots developing and I had a big think and I did! He said that it's the bacteria at its activated stage and this is the cause of pustules, blocked pores and spots. The way to go was gentle cleansing but never over-cleansing. I couldn't afford to go more than four times to see him unfortunately and my skin did 98% clear up at the time, although I did get spots, they were very less frequent and less angry. Now I am getting the greasy angry spots again so am trusting this pink Neutrogena is the way forward!

candlefloozy · 08/07/2018 13:52

@GertyTheGert that is really interesting!! My nose has been really interesting as my nose has been itching but I've linked it to hay fever? Just popped to Wilkos but they don't have any in there! Bloody typical. I eat pretty much the same things all the time so surely it can't be my food? I just seem to have flare ups so thinking it's hormonal? I've got a coil fitted and have just a bit of spotting once a month which is now. So maybe it's just that? I really need a new facewash though so will try the neutrogena one

A thin layer of sudocrem before bed works wonders on spots, it seems to stop the painful ones in their tracks.

candlefloozy · 08/07/2018 19:31

@Claricestarling1 I'll defo try that!! Thank you
