SLS free hair products

I've tried the hair soap - liked the idea but takes too long in practice, plus the soap came apart too easily. I noticed that my hair wasn't as texture-less though and wondered whether other SLS free shampoos had a similar effect?

If you use SLS free stuff, will you tell me what they are and how you think they affect your hair? I'm fed-up with my limp and lifeless hair.

I noticed the same with my hair when I ditched SLS. Currently I'm using Cantu shea shampoo and the white Garnier Ultimate blends conditioner, the one with coconut.

Strangely, my hair doesn't seem to mind silicones in the same way.

I use the Ogx brand (specifically Argan oil one) and I've noticed my scalp is less itchy and my hair needs less washing.

I like the Weleda baby shampoo: www.weleda.co.uk/calendula-shampoo-and-body-wash-105001

Out of curiosity what was the sls-free bar you were using?

Shea Moisture is nice. I think its for Afro Caribbean hair which I don't have but its still great

Are you trying to avoid ALS (ammonium laurel sulphate) as well as SLS? If not, the Faith in Nature shampoos are pretty good. Back when I used to be able to use them, I noticed no difference (from previous SLS shampoo) at home where we have soft water, but needed to use a bit more shampoo to get my hair feeling clean if staying in an area with hard water. Hair was clean and maybe a tad dry if I didn't condition.

I now have to avoid both SLS and ALS, so use a couple of different things. Most often, I use a cold-method soap bar I buy locally - it's very gentle so only really suitable for hair washing in soft water areas, but leaves my hair clean and soft without being dry (even if I don't condition). If I try to use it in a hard water area, it struggles to clean my hair. If I'm travelling somewhere, I often use Pure Nuff Stuff unscented shampoo (which I find similarly efficient to Faith ALS shampoo) even in hard water areas.

Loreal it is not as soapy as usual shampoo so you do use more, but great for my psoriasis. Loreal Elieve colour protect low shampoo.

Faith in Nature. Brilliant stuff and not expensive. I buy their shower gel too

I love this stuff. I know it’s for kids, but I use it all the time.

Hair O was the product (they have their own website and Superdrug sell them). Well packaged and nice tins. Nice minty fragrance and fresh on the scalp. Conditioner felt silky on but am not sure it's enough for colour treated hair.
That said, it's not a quick process and I'm rarely able to indulge enough time in the shower to use soap. It is not a quick process, you don't get a SLS-type lather, the soap shampoo looks lovely (tri colour) but it's already broken up). The conditioner is lovely but again, not quite softening enough for my hair.

I had high hopes for this stuff, but it's not going to work!
