Petite women and children's clothes

I'm a 5'1", size 8, small breasted woman and struggle to find clothes on that fit - petite ranges are always really limited. Someone suggested to me recently that I should just buy teenage girl clothes - does anyone else do this? Are sizes comparable so age 15-16 is like a size 8 petite for instance?

When I go to countries with, err 'generous child sizing' I stock up on kids clothes (same versions of adults sizes but a lot cheaper).

I'm not tiny but can wear kids clothes here and seem to have small feet, so can wear kids trainers and hiking boots (I draw the line a sparkly hello kitty ones!)

I would say age 13-14 work. It's just the arm holes are tighter under your arm if it's a top or a dress, but trousers and skirts work well

Another 5ft here, I can't wear children's clothes as I have hips.

M&CO have a good petite range, very good for jeans and more casual.

Précis is perfect for occasion wear and office. Or Fenn Wright Mason has a lovely petite range.

Tip: If you have John Lewis or Beales near you - hit them in the sales, you can get some fab Petite dresses and dress suits for the same price as high street.

Annoying having measured myself and looked at shop size guides, I want a 12-13 height but 13-14 measurements! H&M generous fit 12-13 look good, does anywhere else do plus size kids clothes?

ASOS have a great petite section and smaller sizes are available too (size 4 upwards)

I'm also 5'1", no boobs and size 6-8 (smaller in vanity sizing). What height I have is mostly legs, I'm particularly short in the body, I'm also quite broad shouldered just to add a bit more of a challenge as I do an outdoorsy manual job.

I find surf brands & adult brands that mostly sell to older teens/20s are the best bet for me for sizing. The only thing I buy from children's ranges is shoes/boots, particularly leather hiking boots (which I wear everyday for work so get through quite fast) - they're pretty much identical to the adult options but cheaper and better sized.
