Recommendations for a patient HG jeweller?

DP has said he would like to understand my taste in rings. Grin

I've never been to a proper jeweller before, and I am a sucker for anything pretty, which makes the thought of choosing one thing hard. I'd love to go to a jewellers that stocks a really wide range of diamond and gemstone jewellery where they're patient enough for me to try a tonne of stuff on. From looking online I think I like asscher cuts, three stone rings and halo rubies or sapphires, but we really want to be able to see them on.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I had thought we could just rock up to Hatton Gardens (or Burlington Arcade), but I've looked at a few jewellers' websites and they all seem to require appointments.

Thank you!

Simon Lewis at the Diamond Shop is fab if you want to design your own and it is often a lot cheaper than buying from a known brand www.thediamondshop.co.uk/#&slider1=2

Thanks apple! It looks as though that place is a workshop though? Do they have a large range in there to try on?

I second Simon Lewis, he has remade several rings for me. Lovely, patient people.

Thanks Fee! The reason I'm asking if they have stuff to see is because I want to see / try on a lot before I can understand what I want.

Simon Lewis appears to be a workshop. Do they have much to browse?

Just wander down Hatton Garden any afternoon. There are loads of shops with a vast selection of styles to try on. I must have tried on over 50 rings last time I was there. It was the perfect way to spend an afternoon. I have never yet had to make an appointment.

Not sure about the Burlington Arcade. It’s much posher and I think you might end up paying over the top for the swanky address and surroundings whereas HG pricing is very competitive if you are prepared to haggle a little.

try www.samarajames.com they have ALL their designs to try on, so yuou have literally 400 ring designs to choose from. Plus they tell you about diamonds too! We went - no hard sell, really friendly.

Don't worry about the appointment. It is just so they make sure they have someone to see you!

OK ladies, thanks so much for the help! Excellent to know that they don't stick to appointments religiously!

Yes Simon Lewis is a workshop but if you wander down Hatton Garden try on loads and then decide the bits you loved about certain rings he can make something perfect. Burlington Arcade is v good fun too for trying on but more pricey in general.
