I have been buying online for a while now and normally go for Acuvue Oasys dailies (including tori for one eye). I’ve just gone to re order and they’re coming out at nearly 50 quid Shock

We need to start keeping costs down. There are other brands that seem much cheaper but I’m wondering if it’s a ‘you get what you pay for’ type thing and in the long run I’ll end up paying twice for lenses. In the sunny weather I wear them most days and I need them to be moist.

Any experience of the cheaper brands? Do you recommend any? Thanks!

Give Daysoft a try. I've used them for a few years now with no problems at all.

Lollyb86 · 02/07/2018 07:41

Never had a problem with Focus Dailies

FannyBurney · 02/07/2018 07:56

Oaysis are lovely. Like you, I'm trying to cut spending and have been using daysoft instead. They are not as comfortable as the oaysis over a whole day, so I tend to take them out earlier, but they are fine.

I also like clariti dailies.

FannyBurney · 02/07/2018 07:57

Oasys, sorry.

SleepingInYourFlowerbed · 02/07/2018 07:58

£50 for how long? Have you considered switch to a monthly or fortnightly type to save money?

InNeedOfALieInNow · 02/07/2018 07:59

I think you do get what you pay for but it depends on what you need. I pay £50 a month for my acuvue. I’ve worn lenses for 20+ years. I wear my lenses for a very long time each day. If I can wear other dailies my eyes become tired, gritty, uncomfortable. My optician can see the difference as my eyes just aren’t oxygenated enough. I’ve tried a lot of lenses over the years, and even recently I’ve tried other lenses and notice the difference the first day I do.
As it is I can wear my lenses and they feel as good 10 hours later as they did when I put them in. For me, as a long term lens wearer I don’t want to risk buggering up my eyes so I suck up the expense

TeaCoffeeCakeGinWine · 02/07/2018 08:16

Thanks mumthedogsbeensick have just looked at those and they don’t do torics unfortunately

sleeping £50 for 30 lenses. I don’t wear them every day (glasses for work 3 days a week for eg) which is why I find the dailies better, also not keen on the faff of cleaning monthlies.

inneed thanks this is what I was fearing. What brand do you use if you don’t mind me asking?

I use acuvue as well. I’ve tried other brands but just didn’t have the same level of comfort. It’s expensive but I have a horror of anything happening to my eyes, so I suck it up. I now buy them on contract via my optician. You can order as many as you like but you pay monthly. So my order is for 60 pairs every 90 days, but I pay £28 per month via direct debit. Lenses get posted to me, and the contract means I don’t have to pay for annual check ups. I also got a free pair of driving glasses.

InNeedOfALieInNow · 02/07/2018 09:22

Mine are the acuvue trueye dailies. (Benefit that they have the Uv protection too). They do have a newer version which I tried last year but didn’t find them as comfy

Paintbox · 02/07/2018 13:01

I get that dailies seem better if you don’t wear them everyday but they are so much more expensive than monthlies. Monthlies probably work out better even if you Don’t wear them all the time. I use biofinity (toric) and love them

Paintbox · 02/07/2018 13:03

Plus, This May or may not be a concern for you, but dailies are so much worse for the environment too, plastic waste everyday instead of every month

TeaCoffeeCakeGinWine · 02/07/2018 14:48

paintbox that’s a really good point. I have been wearing dailies for so long now that I had sort of automatically discounted monthly ones. Perhaps I will look back into those. Thanks

I think daysoft have a comparison table - like many things, a lot of the lenses are identical, just different names on the box.

Cismyass · 02/07/2018 17:09

contactlenses.co.uk Bausch & Lomb continuous wear (you wake up able to see!). £50 for 6 months worth. Been buying them from contactlenses.co.uk for years- Fantastic lenses (life changing) and company. Free next day delivery and excellent customer service.

LoveSummerLife · 02/07/2018 23:48

I wear myday toric, pay £132 for 90 pairs, wear them 4 days a week. I have dry eyes but can wear them for much longer than the optician recommends all day with no problem

ForSaleChesterDraws · 03/07/2018 06:20

The only dailies I can wear are Total Dailies 1 which are a silicon hydrogel lens. I’ve tried the 1 Day Oasys Acuvue and they aren’t as comfortable. They are about £40 a month.

I get far better moisture retention with Air Optx Aqua monthlies which work out at £6 a month plus lens solution.

I can not wear the Daysoft. They get so dry and feel like I have razor blades in my eyes by the end of the day.
