I was following a thread about him in case I needed him, and now I can't find it. He used to do as the celebs and people just table about him

After another very mediocre dye job thats made me look washed out, I've decided I need some real expert help.

@ CurbsideProphet I’m in north London unfortunately. I’m stretching to 150 for a home visit colourist but that’s because no need to work on childcare. I wish I could get to this one but a lot of money plus commute and my hair isn’t too bad. Just the colour isn’t great.....

mashpot · 06/07/2018 12:28

I book marked his website last time he was mentioned and thanks to this thread I’ve finally booked. More than double what I normally spend but I’ve been growing my hair for a while and don’t know where I’m going with it so feels like a good time.

If I don’t actually know what I want will be still be brilliant??!

bakingbee · 06/07/2018 13:06

If you don't know what you want he will give you options after your initial consult. He really works out what will bring out your best features. You will love it! He has transformed my lack lustre locks . I hated going to the hairdresser and generally didn't go for 12-18months but have seen Mark twice - 8 weeks apart. Going again in 3 weeks.

dontcallmelen · 06/07/2018 15:11

Yy pp, I was the same had no idea what I wanted Mark came up with a couple of suggestions & me hair was bra strap length & all mad layers & angles, it’s now shoulder length with all the weight at the ends, so it falls really nicely into shape, honestly it looks even better as the weeks go on which is what he said would happen.

OCSock · 06/07/2018 20:57

This guy sounds like a gem. I'm not in the market for a hairdresser (because I have a genius locally, and I don't go to London twice weekly as I once did) from 250 miles away, but if I were I would be booking a slot.

Good hairdressers are not 10 a penny but they make women happier and more confident so are worth every last cent.

Worth it or not worth it? I can say one thing, have been having my hair done by Mark for the past two years since my friend recommended him to me. I know we can all look great on the day, coming out of any hairdresser (well, most of the time) but the massive difference is your next hair wash, next two weeks, month... Mark is amazingly technically gifted and he cuts hair the way that it won’t go funny after couple of weeks and even after three months it looks brilliant. And the colours he uses are different. Very unique, natural looking shades unless you are adventurous and want something very trendy and standing out. And I love that Mark is good with both the classic looks and the trendy looks. He always chats with you and gets to know you so that your hair is you. I call him ‘Mark the magician’ 😀 and never complained since I have seen him for the first time. Oh and a point to note, I am a massive pain in the back when it comes to hair. 😀”

Bumping, I’ve just been for my second appointment with him. He’s lovely and an excellent hairdresser. Just had a recolour this time because the cut was still sharp, just roots showing. He’s very transparent with pricing too, didn’t make me feel cheap for wanting colour only not cut and even steered me very gently away from more expensive but then higher maintenance option. Big fan.

Puppylucky · 04/06/2019 14:07

I found Mark via MN as well and love him! I had transitioned to grey hair and needed a short cut that was sharp enough to look stylish but didn't land me in Pat Butcher territory and he absolutely nailed the brief! Plus he's a very sweet guy and is genuinely interested in people. I go every 6-8 weeks and it's well worth the time and expense.
He also has two lovely dogs and a beautiful flat!

Inliverpool1 · 04/06/2019 19:24

How does it work with skin tests ? I’d like highlighting but I’d be travelling down especially for my hair do

Etino · 05/06/2019 11:03

Email him and see what he suggest @Inliverpool1!

LoafofSellotape · 05/06/2019 11:10

I used to go to a lovely salon in Blackheath / Lee if you want me to PM you the website for you to have a look at? I think I used to go there too,it was fabGrin

I have a great hairdresser now but if she ever moved I'd go to Dulwich asap!

I wouldn't tip him btw,you tip juniors one not salon owners.

LoafofSellotape · 05/06/2019 11:16

**ime not one

bugeyedbarber · 06/06/2019 23:33

I can confirm that @Etino Grin

I've bleached hair so do touch ups every 10 weeks. His haircuts don't grow out like normal haircuts. They turn into another hairstyle so often I skip a cut and do colour only.
