Comfy bra for hot weather

I'm a 38E, and have only one bra that I can bear to wear in this weather. It is a racer back pull on vbra made of breathable (wicking?) fabric which means that it is not too sweaty around the band.
However, it is quite high cut, and the straps are very visible under most of my clothes ( v or scoop neck dresses in this weather). It's OK under a shirt, but I really would prefer to wear dresses when it's hot. It's the bit just near the collarbone that shows.

Does a non-racer back version even exist? Is the racer back necessary for support when one is a larger size? I couldn't even think of underwiring, and I'm wearing it more for modesty than flatteringness! It's the wickiness that I so like about it, but all the sports type bras I've seen are racer back.
Any help much appreciated.

The usual question - are you sure of your size? Have you done an MN bra intervention/Boob or Bust/been measured in Bravissimo (definitely not M&S)? If you're in the wrong size, it will be sweaty and uncomfortable - underwires shouldn't be uncomfortable if they fit well, in fact would normally be much better than non-underwired as the support will be better.

Check out some of the bra intervention threads eg this one.

Then I'm not sure which bras are best for wicking, but I'm sure they'll be some decent sports bras you can try (not necessarily racer back).

Yes, I have been measured several t imes. I used to wear underw ired, but no longer can . The wires chafe and my skin is really sensitive and I suffer from heat rashes. That's why a wicking fabric works best, but any sort of band under bust is at best moderately uncomfortable.
I looked at sports bras today but the fabric looked so thick and uncomfortable.
I don't think the size is the issue, I am an 18 . A 36 in any style is way too tight, bulges above and below the band and a 40, whilst comfy is a bit too big.
It's the fabric, I need something that doesn't stay damp.
I'm ok in winter, have plenty of well fitting bras, but summer is a nightmare!

Have you tried simply be .

I have a pale pink new balance sports bra which is very comfortable and a nice wicking material. It has got a racer back though. I found this one that isn't racer back, but it has very broad straps so might work for you either.

I'm wearing this bra on hot days. Finding it comfy and supportive. If the straps are visible, it doesn't matter because they look more like a sports top than a bra.

I'm a 32F in Freya/Fantasie, but after a big trying on session in store, I was a 34E in M&S sizing.
A bigger cup was pointed and had excess fabric at the nipple. Be prepared to try different sizes than you'd expect. They do it in white and black, but the grey looks the nicest IMO.

It's cotton rich. Non wired and the straps don't dig in.

DianaT1969 · 01/07/2018 10:32

It doesn't completely separate the breasts, but it does more than similarly shaped sports bras.

hugoagogo · 01/07/2018 16:43

I have that exact bra Diana and I love it, but in this bad weather when it gets damp it stays damp.

Thanks for your replies.
I've been looking at Simply Be, there were several hundred options! Couldn't get the filter to work fully on my tablet, but will try on t he pc.
The M&S one looks right for what I want but isn't the wicking fabric, if only they made it

I would recommend John Lewis.
Go to one of the big stores as they have a huge selection.
All different brands and prices, you can’t go wrong .

New look sells lace bralets in many colours. No underwire and extremely comfortable.

Honey2468 · 02/07/2018 23:48

I got one like this from matalan. Pale pink, wicker sort of fabric with lots of tiny holes so really breathable. It wasn’t long ago. It’s a balcony style one but I find those ones the best coz you don’t need wire. I find matalan really good for bras, good luck
