Full coverage foundation for summer

I usually use double wear but I do find colour match difficult which probably adds to the caked on effect in the summer. Are there any other block buster full coverage (think large pores, acne scarring etc) foundations that might be just a bit better for summer? Thanks.

Tarte amazonian clay foundation

I’ll look it up, thanks

IT Cosmetics CC cream (now available at Boots). Great coverage and it stays put no matter how humid/hot it is.

Dermablend isn't shifting in the heat and finding finish far nicer than doublewear

I wore nothing but DW exclusively for years and years but my skins finally cleared a little and my confidence has gone up so I’ve tried things that make me feel less like I’m wearing a mask.

DW light has been the best I’ve tried for summer. It’s buildable and very natural looking. Looks like my skin but nicer.

I also tried Lancôme Teint Idole 24hr which was lovely but settled into a powdery finish and didn’t have quite the same tenacity as DWL. I found it transferred a little more onto my phone screen, collars etc. Think it may be a better option in the winter.

I got very generous samples of both foundations so maybe the best thing to do is pop to your local Debenhams/John Lewis etc and grab samples from 3/4 different makes and give it a try.

I would second the Double Wear light, and also the Vichy Dermablend. Both have great coverage and don't look cakey.

I have been using the Vichy Dermablend too. Buff it on lightly with a stippling brush and then build in areas which need more coverage. To add longevity and reduce slippage use a finishing spray. I find the NYX (about £8) is as good as the £20 UD one. It comes in different finishes and I love the fresh effect I get with the dewy one.

Brilliant thanks all. I’m off to get some samples.

This might not sound like what you want, but try the Ordinary serum foundation, it is very thin but highly pigmented, one pump does my whole face I then set with Laura Geller Balance and brighten, I find it gives full coverage but no bulk if that makes any sense.

That sounds perfect kaz

Plus loads of colours and cheap, I use one of those flat oval brushes.

Try a good setting spray aswell, the urban decay ones are fab and you can get a travel size to try it out.

The Ordinary serum foundation is really light but pigmented and has a pretty bad shade range really. Another favourite of mine is the Kiko universal hydrating foundation, it covers really well but looks really natural (also lovely and cheap and has big shade range). I also like the cover fx cream foundation (comes in a stick as the cover click as well as in a full size compact, again travel size so cheaper to try) and the cover fx natural finish foundation, very build able with a lovely finish for the summer.

Get a good primer for your pores, then you will need less foundation. Less is more when it comes to foundation in the summer. There are other tricks to try - colour correcting scars, lightweight concealer before foundation, setting spray, a really good loose powder (hourglass one is my favourite, it’s £££ but it’s so bloody good)
