growing out pixie - I'm now at the helmet look, what the hell should I do?

I've managed to avoid the mullet by trimming the back. The sides are taking FOREVER to grow, but are just at the ends of my ears now. The problem is that the whole thing is starting to curl under and look like I'm wearing a sort of bobbed helmet. This is Not A Good Look.

I would like it to look a bit messy, sort of shaggy, but whenever I try doing anything to it (straightening, texturing etc) it ends up going frizzy.
How can I achieve a bit of wave/movement?

I have been switching from Pixie in the summer to shortie bob in the winter , use wax /mouse to tousle it , don't let it get too heavy on top

it works for me two women in our street , have gone to my hairdresser and had the same cut, its easy to manage , especially if you have a busy life ,

try BEDHEAD , and any wax to add definition

But how do you tousle it? Mine just ends up looking frizzy.

Keep going OP, the helmet stage is only temporary. I was there last summer and this year I have a collar length bob. I tried clips scarves etc but nothing worked so I just stuck with it. You have my sympathies, it’s a horrible stage !

Keep going op, mine is at what sounds like a similar length, sides just at earlobes, but back is like a mushroom, need the back chipping really short... Do not crack!

IwankaTramp · 26/06/2018 23:20

Headscarf it. Summer is the perfect time to pull it off.

I used to use a hairdryer and encourage it to click out all round, then a tiny blob of pomade or similar gloop to define the ends. Loved it . . . .

Zebrasmummy · 26/06/2018 23:48

Sorry . . Flick out all round!!

TheKitchenWitch · 27/06/2018 06:58

I need to stay strong, I’ve been here before and always cracked😩
But so sick of the pixie cut, I want to be able to twist it up again and also not have to run to get it cut every 4 weeks.
I’d really like a bit of movement in it, I’m sure that’d distract from the mushrooming but I just don’t seem to be able to get it.

I'm 10 months in OP. When I started growing it, I said I was going to leave it for a year and see what happened. All I can say is just keep at it.

Sea salt spray

Kirby grips were my saviour. I used to twist pieces and pull them back messily and pin them in place with a hairgrip.
