Low waste/low plastic products

We currently use bar soap wrapped in paper and love it. I use all sorts including solid shampoo and conditioner. I have a bubble bath in a glass bottle (looking to change this though as it’s expensive) and I try make my own lotions and scrubs.

Il be starting a more demanding job soon which means making my own will become a luxuary I think. I already use a ruby cup. Anyone got any ideas for low waste (pref plastic free) products on the market?

What do you use? Tia

Hmm good thread. You've got me thinking. Well Estee lauder's advanced night repair is one of my staples, and that comes in a glass bottle. Bloody expensive though. I've got a feeling that the body shop has just made some more of its packaging glass. I guess Vaseline comes in tins. I've stopped buying any kind of scrub since I discovered that soap on scrubby gloves works better, and the scrubby gloves last forever. Dry body brushing with a wooden brush is also fabulous for exfoliating. I shall report back with more when I think of them.

Not sure if this counts. I use stardrops for cleaning. Yes, it does come in a plastic bottle, but I use it to clean the whole house - surfaces, floors, bath etc. It's pretty economical and one bottle lasts a few months.

Elysambre makeup comes in metal pans which fit into a metal compact. It's nice too!

I wasn't up for a mooncup so went for plastic free biodegradable sanitary pads and tampons - awesome because they are also fragrance free.
(Online from ethical superstore or boots) which I order at the same time as plastic free biodegradable nappies and nappy bags

Useless dk is a fashion blogger with loads of good ideas to inspire you to create less waste. She uses a multipurpose oil as a body lotion / make up remover / hair conditioner and uses coffee granules to create a face scrub and has lots of other ideas.

Can I hijack your post to ask what solid shampoos and conditioners you recommend? Thanks!

Lurking... I feel like we get through lots of plastic in the bathroom, namely mouthwash and toner?

Numberonecook · 23/06/2018 23:18

I use lush shampoo bars the argan one being the best I’ve tried so far. I know it contains SLS but I havnt found one that works as well without yet. I also use and love their conditioner bars, I find soaking them in warm water for a few mins before use really helps them work better. I tried their solid mouthwash but wasn’t impressed :(

Thanks for the recommendation of the blogger mumobsessed il check that out.
