Hello! I'd love to try out some products from The Ordinary, but I'm not sure where to begin!

My skin is a little oily, not too bad, but very prone to acne.
I'm looking for:
Moisturiser
Acne treatment
General glowyness (primer?!)

Any recommendations?

If you email them via the web page they will do you a personalised routine. Also try the Facebook group for ideas x

Ooh thank you, I didn't know they offered that service!

Join the group! Really lovely and helpful. And yes, Deciem send you a suggested routine if you give them details.

Just a note: go slowly especially with any actives, better to start with the weakest and work up, unless you're already used to them, of course.

Whatever else you get, add the hyaluronic acid +b5, and the natural moisturising factors to your order.

The hyaluronic stuff isn't an acid for peeling, it adds water to your skin or some such magic. It helps your skin stop being dehydrated and look all plumped up, which should help with oiliness, as well as youthfulness. It's the first step after cleansing, and if I can't be bothered with skincare crap, it's the only thing I use.

The NMF is your moisturiser, I love it- it doesn't clog up your skin. I put a few drops of the squalene oil in there often too, even though my though my skin can be oily.

These are the only two products I have where I've finished the bottles, although the squalene is nearly there. They are the first and last step.

For the bits in the middle, you can chop and change.

If I'm feeling spotty I use: hyaluronic acid, salicylic acid just on spots, niamicide plus zinc (meant to be a healing anti oxidant), azeliac acid (meant to be brightening), NMF and squalene together. Thsts a morning routine. Try and leave a little time between each step.

On a night I use hyaluronic acid, gratanoid reactive or mandelic acid, leave for a little while, then NMF and squalene.

This is for skin with acne/rosacea on cheeks, dehydrated with an oily t zone, that somehow also manages to give me dry skin! It hasn't cleared my acne/rosacea, but it also doesn't flare it, and my skin in general is in much better condition for it- no more oil slick followed by dry patches, plumper and less 'tired' looking.

Sound like you need salicillic acid after cleansing for the acne (or glycolic acid if it’s no longer ‘active’ but just scarring) and a retinol might help resurface but can be quite harsh so I would recommend the granactive retinioid. Followed by a food moisturised the NMF with HA iS good and If you have scarring try the rosehip oil at night time.
