Hair cut DRY or WET ?

Just wondering wise MN (inc hairdressers that may be reading) is it a complete NO to have a dry cut ?

Apart from years ago when I worked in London & over time had 2 great hairdressers I have never come out of a salon after a wash & blow dry and felt that my hair looked amazing.

Over last couple of years I have been going to same hairdresser and having wet cut rather than wet cut & blow dry - its £15ish cheaper and inevitably I was my hair every day and I was coming home to vacuum/iron etc and felt I may as well dry it myself & save the money.

Last week I was desperate to get it cut - fringe too long, ends felt messy & she had no space - I ended up popping in after school run to see if she could just do the fringe & she ended up damping it down & trimming it all. Went home very happy & over last few days I keep looking at it & thinking that its a better cut than normal & I love it !

Always wet here, I don't like the way it looks blowdried and let it dry naturally at home.

Dry cuts are best for curly hair as the hairdresser can see and understand the curl pattern, so gets a much better shape. I don’t know about straight hair though, but if you are happy with the cut, I don’t see the problem.

I have a very straight pixie and always get a dry cut.

I much prefer to get a dry cut but struggle to find hairdressers who will do it.

My (brilliant) hairdresser cuts wet first, then rough dries and does a second refining cut based on how the curl is working.

I’ve spent 20 years having wet cut and blow dry. Last year I had a dry cut because it desperately needed doing but I was in a huge rush. Well, it was a revelation. I’ve got a chin length bob and it made such a difference having it cut whilst the hair was in the exact stuff that I wear it. I’ll never go back to wet cuts.

Just past chin length here and I have a dry cut.
My hairdresser is like Edward scissorhands so it's super fast too. I love it Grin

I spent years, and a small fortune, on having my hair shampooed, cut and blow dried at a salon. Then my lovely hairdresser left to go freelance, and I followed her. She now cuts it at home - quick spray to dampen it, cut, done. It looks exactly the same!

I’ve been using the same hairdresser every 5 or 6 weeks for 13 years and she always cuts my hair dry. She makes a fab job of it!
