Temporary blonde/light ends for my dark haired dd(11) on stage - sorry it's not very stylish but all ideas welcome.

Hope it's ok posting here. I'm rubbish at beauty products/styling etc and need your help. My dark haired daughter (11) is in a stage production at school where she'd like temporary blonde ends. Can anyone recommend a product that will do this as a temporary thing- wash in washout without much damage?
I'm brunette (or was Grin) as is my whole family. I've never had so much as a blonde streak so this is alien territory for me.

I really don't think there is anything temporary you could use to lighten dark hair that much. I used a pink temporary colour on the ends of dd's dark hair and even that was very subtle.

There is no such thing as temporary blonde or lightening. It’s removing pigment from the hair. Done at a salon it is of course possible, never try to go lighter at home. It’ll likely go orange. She could try temporary extensions/clips ins but choose ones that do no damage .

WeeBeasties · 17/06/2018 20:42

It's impossible to lighten dark hair without bleaching it, which is permanent and damaging.
You can get wigs pretty cheaply on amazon?

crazycatgal · 17/06/2018 20:43

You can't temporarily get lighter hair. You need bleach or a high lift colour.

GlitterGlue · 17/06/2018 20:45

You can’t. The only thing I could think you could try would be gold hair spray colour? Not sure how well it would work.

peachypetite · 17/06/2018 20:46

You can't. She's 11, wouldn't be messing with her hair so young.

Excellent info. Sort of what I thought but I'm so out of touch, there might be something I didn't know about Thanks very much!

We used Colorista Burgundy to get the pink ends dd wanted during school holidays on the understanding that if it hadn't faded out we would be cutting her hair when school started. It wasn't totally gone but was barely visible so she kept it.

Blonde clip in or tape in extensions slightly longer than her natural hair would give you a similar effect.

auntiebasil · 17/06/2018 21:19

@Frequency . Sounds like a possibility. Where could I get them from? Again, assume with justification, that I know nothing.

Get some ombre blonde clip in extensions. try get the brown bit to match her hair, it will be easier to blend.

auntiebasil · 17/06/2018 21:27

@fiorentina the two words "rose gold " would probably sell it to her Grin. Would it work on dark hair?
The ombré extensions sound like a possible idea too. Where could I get them from?

I'm afraid I only know of professional suppliers which would cost £££ but at a guess, Amazon or Ebay. Wish sell some fairly decent ones if you have time to wait for them.

Google clip in extensions. The human hair ones (Wish sell these) can be bleached or coloured to match what she wants.

fiorentina · 17/06/2018 22:21

The spray says it works on dark hair but not sure..

lhastingsmua · 18/06/2018 19:20

I’ve used that spray (silver one) on dark hair and it just makes dark hair look glittery/slightly tinted. Dark hair most certainly won’t look blonde or the colour on the front of the spray afterwards. The spray also rubs off everywhere so might get on her clothes/skin (It’s designed to wash out so will literally just comb out)

Again you can’t temporarily tint dark hair to being blonde unfortunately. I think a lot of people would be quite happy if that was the case as it would save them loads of money at the salon!

Thanks everyone!
