Any ideas how to clean it? I lost it during a house move and have found it in a drawer, all black and tarnished...what's the best way to clean it do you think?

I find mine comes up sparkling after a swim in the pool (even though they say not to wear it then).
Also just sitting it in a solution of hot water and washing up liquid helps (again, advised not to though).

If you take it in to Pandora they may well clean it up for you. DD has a couple of Pandora rings which go black very quickly & they used to clean them for her. She doesn't wear them any more because of this.

Thanks, going to use hot soapy water I think...needs a really good scrub though and I don't want to damage it as some if the charms are sentimentally valuable. Think I might have a silver cleaning cloth somewhere too....

If you take it to pandora I think they charge £15 for cleaning

A silver cleaning cloth, you can buy them from Amazon

Pandora's silver yes?

Best way to clean it is to just wear it or rub it between your fingers. Silver needs to be worn the oils in your skin will take the tarnish off

I disagree. I wear mine all the time and within about a week since cleaning, both the bracelet and charms are really very dull. I dread to think how they'd look if I never cleaned them.

GrannyGrissle · 17/06/2018 09:15

Isn't it pearls that need to be worn, not silver?!

Yokatsu · 17/06/2018 10:39

Always worked for me with my silver stuff! Was recommended for a little tarnished silver cross, i spent a long time gently rubbing it worked like a charm. I don't know about Pandora though...

I've heard it about pearls too.

I think becoming tarnished is very dependent on environment, water composition etc. To take it to the extreme, I showered in a volcanic region of new Zealand. Tarnished instantly because of the sulphur in the water. So i think it does depend on what chemicals and environment your exposed to generally. It's worth looking for example at the front and back of a ring or necklace and see if there's a difference in tarnishing between the bit that's touching your skin and the bit that isnt.

It's free. It's worth a try. If it doesn't work you haven't lost anything

Put a piece of foil in a bowl of boiling water and add 2tsp of baking soda
Dunk in the bracelet (or any silver item) and it will magically untarnish.
