Jersey dresses worn with no bra. Is this a thing now?

I've seen a few women,in the last month alone, wearing tight fitting, jersey material dresses, with no bra.
Nothing wrong with that I suppose, but the thing that's surprised me is that they' weren't young 'perky' women (oh to be young and perky again) but mainly older women with large, menopausal boobs.

As a person of a certain age myself, I hope it doesn't become the norm.
Its not a good look and I would end up having to cart mine around in a wheelbarrow! Smile

Maybe they felt a bit uncomfortable and hot in a bra. I know I have been, have taken to wearing a sweat wicking sports bra, or a bikini top.

Rihanna on Graham Norton last night, both of us said crikey when we saw her.

(Dress probably wasn't jersey, but bra was much needed!)

trinity0097 · 16/06/2018 17:51

A well fitting bra is cooler IMHO than no bra as it keeps your boobs off your stomach, less skin to skin contact is cooler!

dickxydoraxx · 16/06/2018 18:22

Surely a bra gives a smoother appearance to the overall look.

It may well be a thing if Rihanna is doing it, but I doubt it'll be compulsory 😁

Haffiana · 16/06/2018 19:07

Are you sure they had no bra? I just spent the day with a friend and her bra was either very VERY old or fitted by M&S (almost certainly both of these actually!) and her bosom was just hanging down between where it should have been and her waist. It looked like no bra at all.

fiorentina · 16/06/2018 21:28

My mother in law was following this trend last time she visited. It wasn’t a good look.. Shock

AnotherRoadsideAttraction · 16/06/2018 21:38

It's a thing. Nothing wrong with our natural bodies! I prefer to go bra-less as it's far more comfortable for me (I'm fairly small of nork), but I really do NOT appreciate the occasional creepy ogling that nipples seem to attract.

Check out the awesome Chidera Eggerue (aka The Slumflower) on Instagram. There's a whole movement. #saggyboobsmatter

MulberryPeony · 16/06/2018 21:50

Could be Gossard glossies. I daren’t wear mine with certain clothes or it looks like I’m going braless.

dickxydoraxx · 16/06/2018 23:07

AnotherRoadside, these women were definitely not small of nork.

I think that's what looked so odd. They were groomed in other ways, but had these massive boobs swinging around, with their nips sticking out for all to see.
Rather them than me.

OP posts:
FrogCow · 16/06/2018 23:12

They’re just boobs.

dickxydoraxx · 16/06/2018 23:15

You're right Frog.

I was surprised that this fashion seems to be all around all of a sudden and I've only just noticed.

FrogCow · 16/06/2018 23:19

We’ve not been surprised by the showing of calves or thighs? But covered breasts, without bras, is worthy of discussion?

dickxydoraxx · 16/06/2018 23:21

I've looked her up. Chidera Eggerue

I would be more impressed with her blogging if she were

a) older
b) actually had properly sagging breasts.

She's young, pretty and her breasts aren't that saggy, so I don't see how that relates to older women going about braless, who aren't going to look so good as she does Confused

OP posts:
dickxydoraxx · 16/06/2018 23:23

Frog, I'm only discussing it, because this is Style & Beauty and I am wondering if it's a new fashion - for women to be going braless under clingy dresses. That's all.

OP posts:
dickxydoraxx · 16/06/2018 23:25

Seems it is the fashion.

One I won't be partaking in. Smile
but if others do, that's up to them!

AnotherRoadsideAttraction · 16/06/2018 23:31

Hmm. Based on your assessment of her I take it that you didn't really understand her point is that women should love their breasts, no matter what size or shape.

And yes, she's a gorgeous, young woman.

FrogCow · 16/06/2018 23:34

Maybe it’s not about looking good. Maybe it’s just about being.

FrogCow · 16/06/2018 23:35

And it relates as they are women who also have breasts.

AnotherRoadsideAttraction · 16/06/2018 23:37

I like the cut of your jib, FrogCow!

JaneJeffer · 16/06/2018 23:43

Maybe it’s just about being. Being what?

CardinalCat · 16/06/2018 23:44

Agree with Frog! I wear a bra at work because they require "business dress" and with the exception of one or two dresses with built in lining and support, i need a bra. Outside of work i don't bother very often. Really don't care what anybody else thinks, and it's easier access for my breastfeeding youngest.

FrogCow · 16/06/2018 23:49

About being whatever you are. Be that a pair of, in the OPs eyes, saggy, older breasts. Or a pair of pert young ones. Or whatever variation of breasts there are.
OP said they hoped the fashion for being braless with older breasts didn’t take off. I merely think it doesn’t matter if it’s fashion or not.

AnotherRoadsideAttraction · 16/06/2018 23:50

Jane Being vs. 'trying to be'.
(With bra or without!)

CookPassBabtridge · 16/06/2018 23:51

I've just started going braless at home and it's amazing, I'm 40HH. Freeeeeedom! I wouldn't do it in public but love that some women are. Who gives a fuck. I love that women are dressing for the benefit and comfort of themselves.
