Has anyone seen these sandals/shoes

I saw these shoes on a woman in the underground yesterday and thought they might work with my terrible feet. I get lots of blisters on my heels so very little at the heel is good. But without a substantial shoes, my foot slips around and I get blisters on the sole as well. So I end up wearing ankle boots all the time, even in summer. But these might solve some of the problems - substantial shoe part but no heel, ties up so can be tightened, and yet sort of sandal like. I don't specially love the look of them, but better than ankle boots for summer!

It's a long long long shot, I know, but I'm hoping they might be a current style that someone has seen in the shops lately...

What are those like at the back?

I don’t think these are quite the same but similar

Bigpizzalover · 14/06/2018 09:17

New look have a few styles similar to this

PickleNeedsAFriendInReading · 14/06/2018 09:20

Thanks, those are kind of similar, but these definitely didn't go up as far as that (which is probably why I liked them - they were more sandal like).

They had a sort of thick strap/top bit at the heel, but only as high up as a normal sandal/shoe would be, and the front finished where the laces are (and just wrapped around to the back at about that level).

They looked like fairly soft suede, too, which is what I need - my skin gets irritated very easily by seams, bits of glue, elastic, edges of leather that don't quite meet up, anything slightly hard or rigid ,etc etc (very fragile skin!).

thanks for looking

These look possible

PickleNeedsAFriendInReading · 14/06/2018 09:34

thanks, some good ideas to check out.

I think that the ones with laces all the way down, and lots of edges of leather to tie together, will give me blisters on top, but I might be able to find really soft ones. I thought the ones I saw looked more like cut outs from a single piece as the ties were just at the top (which might still rub at the edges, but would move around less overall). It might be the sort of thing Hotter does, kind of laser cut out type sandals, but I thought they looked a bit less frumpy than Hotter!

at the moment I'm trying to line any sandals or shoes with Engo blister patches to reduce friction, but even the edge where the patch ends causes rubbing - or if I try to layer two patches to fill the space, then the bit where it overlaps causes a blister, and that's fractions of a millimetre thick. It's so frustrating. I can get blisters on the tops, sides, soles, heels etc, regardless of how much compeed I put on, use a blister stick, double layer socks when not wearing sandals, etc, but so often find my feet are bleeding by the end of the day.

That sounds horrible Pickle.

How about something like these? There handmade so I think the leather should be nice and soft and there’s not too much there that could rub.

PickleNeedsAFriendInReading · 14/06/2018 10:00

thanks. yes it's horrible as I never know what will rub until it's too late.

So hard to buy anything online - even handmade. Things like the elastic or the slightly raised stitching on those would be red flags, so I'd have to try them on first to see. I thought my current suede ones were great, and generally they are, but my feet slide around in them a little (only a few mm, but that's enough) so I get blisters on the sole.

Luckily it's cool today so I'm back to my dual layer socks and ankle boots again!

This might be way off the mark, but have you tried barefoot shoes? Have a look at Vivo Barefoot.

The reason I suggest them is because they fit a natural foot shape so much better, and aren’t rubbing/pinching in places they shouldn’t. They are also really soft and flexible so move with your foot. They also do a 100 day guarantee, so if you wore them and they caused blisters, you can get a refund.

I don’t think they have any sandals, but they might have something a little cooler than boots and socks on hot days!

PickleNeedsAFriendInReading · 14/06/2018 10:11

I've tried one sort, but needed more padding (it's all to do with hypermobility, weird feet, funny skin!) - I didn't know about the guarantee though, so maybe that brand would be worth another try.

Slippers are my favourite, if only I didn't have to walk anywhere... (I do have to walk quite a lot!)

These any good op?

PickleNeedsAFriendInReading · 14/06/2018 11:35

thanks. I don't think they're the ones either, but will keep my eyes open in Clarks as well.

Of course, chances are high that she bought them another year (though they did look quite new) and aren't available now!! But worth asking.

If you're worried about rubbing I recently bought a pair of Pavers sandals and they are so soft there are no hard edges to rub, but they only have size 9 online. I tried on loads on store and quite a few seemed that they wouldn't rub ( I could get a gold medal in rubbing if it was a sport)

If you could visit a store like Pavers you may find something to suit

gryffen · 14/06/2018 17:25

Look like these ones.

Also, as a woman with size 10 feet in work boots with steel toes - Compeed plasters are your friend.

😊

I don't see a link in your post, gryffen?

I should have shares in compeed plasters from the amount I use. But It's hard to cover every inch of toes top and sides, as well as heels. And they are useless on the soles (even the ones that advertise as being for soles!).

I don't know about Pavers, will look them up, thanks.

I feel your pain OP. I've charity shopped so many pairs that were ok when tried on in store, but rubbed me into blisters within half an hour of normal wear I've lost count. Must run into hundreds. Sad I tend to wear ankle boots all year round, or trainers like Sketchers go-walks.
