Wedding in Italy - need help to find dress

We have just been invited to a wedding at the very beginning of Oct in Italy and whilst I am looking forward to it, it is also stressing me out.

I have been to a couple of overseas weddings before and the women always look amazing and very glamorous. More so in Italy I would imagine.

I need help finding a fantastic dress. The last few occasions I have been to a wedding and a ball I turned up in the same dress as another person and was pretty mortified so I need to avoid those high street shops that everyone goes in.

I am looking for something classy but glamorous (if that is both possible). I am 5ft 5" and size 10/12. I can scrub up well. I just need the right dress to feel and look fantastic.

Can you please recommend shops or gorgeous dresses you have seen that would make me feel good in a sea of Italian beauties.

I love that Goose. Only problem is it is very similar to the dress I wore at the last wedding we went to so will need to go with something a bit different.

I am loving this but I think the cleavage bit is a bit too low. It nearly goes down to the waist. I love it though Sad

I saw that dress in Reiss the other day and its an orangey dress. This one looked quirky yet smart the blue might be better. Reiss has definitely got the nicest dresses out at the moment.

Ooooh that's nice.

I think I had better get up to town as there seem to be lots of sales on at the moment and I won't be able to find anything late summer as it will all be winter.

Do you think there is any way I could tone down the split to waist cleavage on that orangey dress?

Halle, your suggestion is also quite my style. I like to keep the dress quite simple and then dress it up with great hair, accessories and killer shoes.

I've been to a few balls and weddings recently and I noticed that some of the guests went really OTT. Lairy patterened dresses, bright shoes and bags to match one of the colours, spray tan, loads of makeup, excessive jewellery, hair extensions and long nails. I don't really want to look like that but did feel underdressed in comparison.

How do you get the relatively simple dress, but look absolutely gorgeous right? I need tips. Is it all about what's going on underneath?

Have you had a look at the orangey Reiss dress, could you put stitches in to bring it together I was able to do this with a black dress as the V was too low to wear a bra and I have far too much boob for that.

I really like the navy asymmetric Reiss dress though, with good metallic accessories a blow dry and well done makeup would look elegant and stylish.

Carvela have a sale too if shoe shopping, the Reiss Paris metallic sandals would look good with the navy dress too.

The metallic sandals were beautiful but I have runners feet and they need to recover a bit before I can show them in those shoes.

I have bought the assymetric dress in khaki. Its definitely worth going to try them on as I had to size down in that dress. I also like this dress its a gorgeous colour . I may have tried them on the other day and the sale started the next day so both are winging it over to me. Think the assymetric one might be my fave though. You need to play around with the folding to get the right look, it doesn't need to be so one shouldered.

I would try on the cleavage one. It's hard to tell how low down it would be on you otherwise. And you'll either get the "this is the one" feeling or you'll be tugging at your cleavage feeling awkward. Either way you'll know.

lexiewrites · 14/06/2018 09:25

Think the khaki one is nicer personally. The colbalt one looks a bit officey imo. Have you seen the pia dress, I think it's gorgeous, I'd love it but the only wedding I have left this year I'm a bridesmaid for.

The orangey colour dress is the best colour in my opinion.

Try it on, and if it’s too low cut, you could buy a small piece of lace or chiffon in a contrasting colour and sew it as an insert, or have someone do it for you. You could then choose your accessories in a colour to match the lace/chiffon panel.

Will the wedding take place in a church? Remember that you would need to cover your shoulders and be careful with your cleavage in there.
