Flaky scalp/dandruff

Does anyone have Any recommendations for anything that might help?

Already use SLS free products, but dandruff/flaky scalp still very much there

I feel your pain. I recently went to the doctor for ongoing ear infection/ear problems and she prescribed me some steroid stuff for both ear and scalp as she concluded that my scalp had mild exzema. Prior to this I had been (mis)managing my itchy/flaky/dandruffy scalp for years. Maybe you have this?

I swear by Body Shop's ginger shampoo (they've just brought out the conditioner too!).

My problem was as soon as I'd blow dried my hair after washing there were inch wide patches of flakes lifting off my scalp. It was grim! I tried extra rinsing, not 'scrubbing' my scalp, a special shower hair brush for massaging, T-gel, SLS-free... you name it I tried it, but nothing worked.

Someone on here recommended the ginger shampoo and it fixed it within two washes. You can get a 100ml bottle for £2 to try it out so not much lost if it doesn't work for you.

@Deucebumps I'm sure I've looked at that before but it has SLS in? Will take another look. Glad you've found something that works for you!

Worth a punt I reckon. It has sorted mine and I'm thrilled about it! I've also tried the ginger shampoo in the past and I love the smell but unfortunately it did not sort my scalp.

My hairdresser advised me to use conditioner on my scalp and to condition my hair much more often than I was doing. This has completely sorted out my flaky scalp!

I'd tried everything before that - H&S worked but totally stripped out my colour.

Interesting! Which conditioner do you use or will any work? I never put conditioner on my scalp!

I came on to say body shop ginger shampoo as well

What are you currently using?

I get on well with a few on here, the Jason one, Aubrey Organica and Avalon are the least itchy for me.

As a quick fix, Selsun from behind the counter in a chemist is also fabulous.

There's a treatment from Lush that has worked for me. I'm not sure what the name is though...

I just use a coloured hair conditioner shestoodinthestorm but I think any will do. I thought it was weird to condition your scalp too but has really worked for me!

DH uses Body Shop ginger shampoo and really likes it.

Rub coconut oil on your scalp and leave overnight before washing the next morning ( shampoo twice).

I tried moisturising (coconut oil etc), a natural-bristle brush, sls-free shampoo and shampooing less but the only thing that helped was apple cider vinegar.
My hairdresser said I should stop using shampoo entirely and use acv instead but I don't buy into the nonsense that acv is a miracle cure for everything and I hate the smell so it was a hard sell for me. About 10 days after my haircut my scalp was still clear so I'm (grudgingly) still doing it.
After massaging it into my scalp I leave it on for a while (sometimes I mix it with aloe vera gel first so it isn't so runny), rinse it off and put some conditioner on.

Nizoral. The only one that really works.
