How can I soften my foot skin at home, please? I didn't realise how bad they were but I need help with some home remedies to sort them out.

Margaret Dabbs foot file, followed by a dab of Dr Bronner Balm.

HyacinthsBucket70 · 13/06/2018 19:51

Margaret Dabbs hygiene cream is nothing short of miraculous, and I go through pots of it. And newtons chiropody sponges in the shower. I've had horrid feet for years but they are baby soft all the time now.

I found the footner stuff just made my feet revolting for a week and didn't touch the hard skin at all. Doesn't last long either.

QuilliamCakespeare · 13/06/2018 19:51

Coincidentally, I Footner-ed earlier in the week. Day 3 now and I'm waiting excitedly for the Big Peel to begin. How long does it usually take?

Constance88 · 13/06/2018 20:00

Hi Quilliam! It took about 5 days for me, Lordy my OH was disgusted haha. I couldn't believe the results, I can't remember a time when my feet looked that nice! You can just start maintaining easier after (although I've bought another pack for a week before my hols!)

Madbengalmum · 13/06/2018 20:05

You can try as many "home" remedies as you wish, but a visit from/to a foot health professional once every few months and some good cream can't be beaten. Most of the home remedies actually promote callus, as callus is created by friction and can really only be got rid of by proper debridement. Same goes for corn plasters, bazooka verruca etc, all will worsen the issue.

Thanks to this thread I've just ordered footner from amazon and it's arriving tomorrow. Excited for the results Grin my feet are crap

Flexitol Heel Balm (the stuff with 20% urea) is the business. Footner is gimmicky, Flexitol will transform your feet much quicker. I use to have deep cracks that bled, after one day of Flexitol I could see the difference and now my feet are like my childrens. It is amazing stuff, can't rate it highly enough. In the interests of balance my Mum uses CCS (also 20% urea) and has seen a similar transformation.

MrsSlocombesPussy · 13/06/2018 20:41

I used to have very thick hard skin on my heels and balls of my feet. I started going to the chiropodist every few months, and she cuts it off. It's very satisfying seeing the pile of skin when she's finished! I don't seem to need to go as often now, as I manage to keep it under control at home.
She told me the ingredient you need is urea - I use CCS cream mentioned by a previous poster.
I find if I don't moisturise the skin gets very itchy.

Soap instead of shower gel in the shower

QuilliamCakespeare · 14/06/2018 13:15

@Kittykat93 I recommend soaking your feet a couple of days afterwards. I've just done mine and the peel has finally started Grin

H&M fake footner. Better than Footner and only £8.99

Thegirlisnotright · 14/06/2018 16:38

Newton’s chiropody sponge- only a couple of quid and so effective. I had big cracks on my heels that are completely gone now

banivani · 14/06/2018 21:53

Look for something heavy on urea. I bought a cream with 40% urea and it really softens skin and repairs and prevents cracks.
