Another wig thread, sorry

But I had such brilliant advice on here from wig wearers so I hope you don't mind. I've tried the cap under the wig and it looks really obvious. Given up but have ordered a different one.

I have made an appointment with a hairdresser for tomorrow. She said it would be helpful if I had an idea of what I want.

I've also decided on decorative slides that someone on here suggested.

What should I be doing? Half up, all up, down ..... this is all still quite new to me.

Just to say this is the wig (again).

And this is for my wedding next month and I really appreciated all the replies. Just not sure how this works!

Confused as to why the wig cap is obvious? You shouldn’t see it - occasionally you will see the edge through the parting if you have a mono top, but I don’t think your’s does. You don’t need a cap at all though - if it’s grip you need, have you tried the velvet wig grip (basically a velvet hairband)? Re style, if you have enough bio hair to pull out to hide the wig edge if the hair is lifted upwards, then you have more options. Hiding the edge round the ears and nape are the main priorities, the fringe hides the front edge.

Maybe I put it on incorrectly? I could see it through my fringe. I have hardly any hair at all. A bit of a fringe and then about two inches at the back.

Ok, the edge of the wig on your forehead should be about 4 fingers above your brow bone. It doesn’t matter if that makes the fringe too long, that can be trimmed. Basically, hold the wig upside down by the ear tabs, and hold it in front of you. You sort of dive into it till you feel your brow bone hitting the wig. Then pull it down firmly at the back, right down under the curve of your skull, at your nape. The front will be dangling in your face, don’t worry about that yet. Straighten up and take hold of both ear tabs and pull them straight and flatten them against the side of your face. They may have little bendy bits to help them grip. Although they are called ear tabs, they sit above your ears and as far possible as you can pull them. Finally grab the top of the wig and lift and resettle it till it’s four fingers above your brow bone. They you can finger style it. That’s it :). I think I described how to secure your bio hair in your previous thread. :)

Far forward, not far possible.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 11/06/2018 14:44

You did, and you've been absolutely brilliant. Thank you so much. I'm going to have a go now while reading all this again Thanks

Wig grips, nets etc sit BEHIND your hairline and above your ears. And I think you probably have enough bio hair for your hairdresser to pull some hair out with a tail comb and use it to conceal the wig edge. You,ve got potential there :)

How are you getting on with it, lobster? You need to show them who’s boss! Grin

Lobsterquadrille2 · 11/06/2018 19:48

Well, I did my first wig wash this afternoon (keeping the instructions firmly in front of me! It seemed a bit complicated - this has to be cold, this has to be below 30 degrees) and then I washed my poor strands, so I'm going to have a proper go in the morning before I go to the hairdresser. Thank you @ilovecherries you have been so helpful xx

I think you look lovely.

I remember your other thread on style and beauty afoot your day out, and I wanted to say that this hair colour on you is divine. Smile

Lobsterquadrille2 · 11/06/2018 21:30

Thank you @Atalune I'm feeling much better and hopefully after my hairdresser appointment tomorrow will feel better still. I had to walk out for eggs today and the wind was quite strong (ok, probably not that strong) but I took faith from a poster who said that her mother's wig didn't blow off!!!
