Help! I’m milk bottle white & going on holiday in 2 weeks. My skin is very dry.

Do I

a) Have a few sunbeds
b) Use a gradual tanner (if so which one?)
c) Get a spray tan the day before

Appreciate any advice!

a- no , you know that sunbeds are a shit idea don't you?
b- try one, my DD tested out some Isle of Paradise spray on her arm and its a really nice natural colour ( light better than medium on her,)
c- I had a spray tan a couple of years back, ol on the forst couple of days but it faded really cruddily (and I smelled like a stale digestive)

Get exfoliating (I highly recommend Korean Italian towels) and moisturise well.
Then try out a couple of fake tans to find one that suits you
I have James Read spray , its nice, very subtle but I can build it up. M&S stocks it ,

Watching with interest no to sun beds definitely.
I am wondering about B or C for my holiday. I use Dove tan on my arms chest and neck and it looks really good if I say so myself but my legs I can never get right. I wondered about Skinny Tan which come up on FB feed quite a lot but haven’t used it so can’t comment. It’s always difficult to get back and backs of legs though isn’t it with DIY
The last time I had a spray tan I was 🍊 my kids took the mickey out of me. I was debating about a Clarins one for the summer hols as they exfoliate and then put tan on but haven’t tried it.

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/06/2018 06:38

A) Never.
B) Possibly, dove gets good reviews.
C) if it’s LA Tan or Vani-T tan yes. St Tropez and fake bake can be too dark for pale English skins.

All fake tan degrades in the presence of chlorine and sun block so always take a gradual Tanner with you.

No sunbeds. Ever.

St Tropez mousse gradual tanner is on offer in Boots atm. You put it on dry skin, wait 60 seconds and then have a shower. It is very subtle, smells nice and no orange tinge. I am extremely pale and it has just taken the edge off for me!

BumbleNova · 11/06/2018 06:51

I'm a shade of white that reflects the sun. I use the st Tropez gradual tan. Make sure that you get one that is tinted so you can see where you have put it.

Gradual tans are great because you can control the colour easily. Ie fewer layers if you just want to take the edge off which is what I do. Frankly I look odd more than 2 tones darker! And YES to exfoliating. It's key to stop it being patchy. Spend a few days prior mega exfoliating and then moisturising.

I am celtic pale; takes 2 weeks in the Caribbean to see a difference Grin. I used Skinny Tan gradual mousse. Very natural and after Half Term colleagues said I looked glowing, had I been away? So not obviously dark but healthy. Legs have been unveiled from trousers and shoulders had a day out in a bardot top. Happy Smile

I'd get booked in for a nice light - medium spray tan but if you're good at doing it yourself the bondi sands stuff is brilliant! I swear by it & im naturally really pale. With that stuff you'd never know haha! Enjoy your holidaysGrin

Doidontimmm · 11/06/2018 07:15

Thank you all. I didn’t really want to do sunbeds but was desperate if that’s what I had to do!

Going to try the St Tropez since it’s on offer. Fingers crossed!

@Doidontimmm I don't mean to sound bossy but please don't use a sun bed - ever. Not even one. Having lost two friends (who used to use sunbeds) to melanoma before they reached 50 I would say take the risks seriously - honestly you can never be that desperate for a tan.
Bondi Sands gradual tan in the pink bottle is excellent- gives a natural golden colour after one application, is buildable and doesn't go patchy when you shower and lasts about 7 days.
Alternatively a spray tan before you go - in my experience Fake Bake gives the best colour and lasts the longest.

Loving the Dove and I’m so pale I was nearly blue to start with. Only gradual tanner that hasn’t given me stripes.

donaldtwerp · 11/06/2018 19:56

Never ever ever sunbeds.

I just use fake bake 1/2 a week, I've tried them all and that's the best for me

Doidontimmm · 11/06/2018 20:44

Don’t worry Ella I have never used a sunbed & didn’t really want to but someone had told me they are “safe” now so thought I’d ask. Definitely not on the cards ever now.
