I have fungal infections in both my little and big toe nails :(
I am nowhere near salon for treatments so it will have to be DIY.
Can anyone recommend something I can paint on?
Can I then use colour to make them less fugly while it works?

Do NOT be tempted to use nail varnish to cover up the discolouration. I did this last summer just before I went away on holiday as I knew I was going to be wearing sandals. There was only a small patch of infection On my big toe that has been there for ages. After a week of using nail varnish the whole nail lift up (yuk) and I had to remove it. It took ages to grow back and is only now back to normal.

Nailner didn't work for me, but I am seeing some results with Scholl.

I’ve been struggling with it for years having developed it after a pedicure. I’ve tried the tablets from GP -useless. Spent £800 on laser treatment which did nothing. Now I see a podiatrist who takes off as much infected nail as she can every month and I apply oregano oil or lamisil to the nails daily. There is a slow improvement and they look and feel better but I suspect it’s a problem for life. Good luck.

Don't even bother seeing your GP go straight to the experts and see a Chiropodist. They really know what they're doing with regards to feet.

I had an issue with a big toe nail once, got refered by my GP to the NHS podiatrist who wanted to take my toenail off Shock

I refused this as an option.

Saw a locum at my surgery who suggested I see an excellent Chiropodist who sorted my big toenail out after a few visits and its been normal ever since.

I sent my DDad to him who had had years of fungal infection in his toenails and the chiropodist sorted it out no problem.

It was private so I did have to pay about £25 a visit which was well worth it imho as I now have gorgeous toes so I can still wear sandals and flip flips.

God, I hope the laser works as it costs loads! I have tried various OTC products too and the Scholl int he blue bottle with the nail files helped on some of my nails (just not the most stubborn ones!).

Wary of people saying they got it from pedicures -- do you just not go now, or are you more careful where you go? I get pedicures at Margaret Dabbs, do you think they are a cut above in terms of hygiene on these things?
