Are these nice, or awful?

For casual, every day wear?

Thanks :-)

I wouldn't wear them, they seem a bit dated, and not to my taste. But each to their own, if you like them, buy them.

bzzbeebzz · 06/06/2018 17:20

I like them but i don't love them, not sure why...seem a bit too sensible or something

Wenchelda · 06/06/2018 17:22

I can’t decide if I like them or not Confused I was actually searching for casual shoes rather than sandals, but these caught my eye, although not sure if it wasn’t in a good way, or bad one!

I bought these last year. They are unfortunately more frumpy in real life. I kept them as they were good for a city break when I did a lot of walking, but they are a bit old lady!

Paintbox · 06/06/2018 17:31

Sorry I don’t like them. The worst thing about them is the seam across the front

Spudnick · 06/06/2018 17:34

I wouldn't say the were awful but I wouldn't wear them

mermaidbutmytailfelloff · 06/06/2018 17:37

Is the phrase a bit old lady really necessary?

TroubledLichen · 06/06/2018 17:40

Not awful but definitely not nice.

TheHuntingOfTheSarky · 06/06/2018 17:41

I really like them! But I have size 9 massively wide feet so I’ll just have to stick with my Birkenstocks Sad

Wenchelda · 06/06/2018 17:44

Ok, thanks all - that saves me £45 on something that isn’t that great.

Hmmm... need an alternative now. I have slightly wide feet and hate my toes feeling squashed. I’m also short so need a bit of height but can’t cope with heels so think a low wedge is probably best. Also need to be supremely comfortable as I’ve suffered with plantar fasciitis in the past and definitely don’t want anything that is going to cause that to flare up again. Casual but still decent looking. Should be easy with such a short list of requirements, no? Hmm

I really don't like wedges. especially covered in espadrille material, I think they look really frumpy and dated. Flats are generally much better.

Hoppinggreen · 06/06/2018 17:52

I was looking at them in store today.
The seam in the middle looks odd

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 06/06/2018 17:57

I share your trouble in finding suitable footwear OP. It's no fun searching with a list of exacting criteria.
Looking at the reviews on the site, yes most are from the 55+ age group, but not all.
I want something similar, I see these come in half sizes so I shall look for them instore, maybe they look nicer on than in pics.

Mountainsoutofmolehills · 06/06/2018 17:59

If you teach geography it's ok. If you do not want to look like a geography teacher then don't buy them.

BigFatBloomers · 06/06/2018 18:04

I have pf and have just bought these from Fitflop. They might not set the world alight but they’re v comfortable.

I’ve also seen people say good things about Moshulu

I used to wear Varcas every summer but that was before my feet started hurting and I never tried the wedges.

Wenchelda · 06/06/2018 18:04

Ok, you’ve all talked me out of them. Can anyone suggest an alternative that fits in with all my criteria?

OP posts:
RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/06/2018 18:05

Not fond of the stitching up the front, but otherwise I like them.

Wenchelda · 06/06/2018 20:37

Thanks for those suggestions bigfatbloomers - I already have several pairs of fitflops (shoes, boots, flip flops and sandals!) so I know how comfortable they are. Maybe I should just stick with what I know to be good, even if they’re not the most stylish thing in the world. They’re all so expensive though!

For low heel wide fit wedges try River Island online.

Loyaultemelie · 07/06/2018 15:12

I like everything but the seam down the middle of the front, that's why they don't wow me I think. Mind you my taste is probably terrible to be fair Hmm

TheSteveMilliband · 08/06/2018 18:47

I have a pair of the pied a terre imperia (espadrilles wedges, Kate Middleton wore them) which I love. The nearest thing I've found to replace them are these
uk.tommy.com/iconic-slingback-sandals-fw0fw02788
Still espadrilles wedges but really comfortable and have a bit of a heel.

tumpymummy · 09/06/2018 10:29

For going out wedges I have these : direct.asda.com/george/women/shoes/shimmer-espadrille-wedges/GEM611262,default,pd.html
which are actually better in real life - sort of rose gold shimmery . I love them, and they're comfy. But they are too high for me to wear to work and for every day. I'm on the search for comfy everyday sandals too. I have been trying a pair of Clarks Arla Jacoby: www.clarks.co.uk/c/Arla-Jacory/p/26125965?CAGPSPN=pla&CAAGID=47332025178&CATCI=pla-349336456693&cm_mmc=PPC_SHOP_google--G_UK_PS_dA_TG_SHOP_Womens_Sandals_FullPrice--G_UK_PS_dA_TG_SHOP_Womens_Sandals_FullPrice-_-na&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI9cvy6KHG2wIVjZXtCh2pbgxnEAQYASABEgK7gvD_BwE
But I cant decide if they are frumpy or not?! They are comfy as soles are all squidgy - they call it cloudstopper! I'm tempted by some of the Moshulu, but unfortunately there is no branch near me so would mean paying postage.
