I am not sure if tis is the correct place to post this - it didn't seem "right" for health.

I ant to get a tummy tuck done and have done for many years. I have a pot of money that I have saved and put away to cover this.

Now that the time is right - no more pregnancies and I lost 100lbs last year, I am a bit fluxommed as how to decide where to go and which consultant to go with. I rang one of the clinics earlier and got through to a call centre who suggested I just have a look at the 5 line consultant's profiles and pick one I "liked the look of".

How did anyone else go about finding the right place and right consultant?

Hi, I recently had a breast reduction at ross hall so I can't recommend surgeon but I thought the care at there was excellent. Maybe that's a starting point for you. Hope it goes well.

Yes, I picked the consultant I wanted and she happens to work in ross hall one day a week. The rest of the time she works as an nhs surgeon. I booked a consultation with her then I booked the surgery for a few months later. It all went smoothly and I thought the care in there was excellent. They also do a payment plan called a bmi card which gives you a years interest free credit to pay it back. It's good if you don't want to pay all of it upfront.

Can’t recommend a surgeon but second rosshall for good care, I was very well looked after there for major orthopaedic surgery. I’d really recommend not going to a clinic, TT is major surgery and you want the back up of a good hospital with intensive care facilities etc on site. The chances of you needing them are minimal, but in an emergency, I certainly wouldn’t want to have to be carted across the city - in fact I changed to rosshall for just that reason. I was booked into a small private clinic type hospital near home and when I asked what would happen if something went wrong I was told it was unlikely but the arrangement was to blue light to a large nhs hospital a couple of miles away. Wasn’t worried about the nhs part, but certainly didn’t fancy an emergency transfer! The surgeon was able to work at rosshall as well, so I transferred there, even though it was a lot less convenient. Felt very safe and well looked after.

I did a lot of googling and I had read about ground-breaking work she'd done with cancer patients and I was impressed. That made me book the consultation initially with her. Use your consultation to ask all the questions you have. I took a list and she answered everything. A tummy tuck, just like a breast reduction comes under the cosmetic surgery field so there are lots of clinics offering those procedures but just as ilovecherries said it's major surgery and you want to be in a proper hospital, i couldnt agree more with her. You also want to feel safe and comfortable before going in as your recovery depends on your mental health as well as physical your physical health. You've done amazingly well losing so much weight you deserve to feel good about your body. It'll be life changing.
