I'm getting Botox in the morning

So I am Botox virgin and after months of googling, humming and hawing and flip flopping, I have finally made an appointment for Botox tomorrow.

I'm in Edinburgh and have chosen what I think is a good practioner (lots of positive reviews and awards). I had a consultation last week and feel we are on the same page. I have a one-sided brow droop and am not expecting miracles; just hoping to be a bit more symmetrical. She warned me it might not work but as my alternative is surgery, I'm willing to give it a shot. I'm bricking it slightly in case I end up bruised or weird looking and everyone notices and judges me for it. I have only told my husband who is bemused. Just looking for some moral support really...

Oh, also, I can completely move my face, forehead and eyebrows as before, no feelings of anything having moved or being frozen. IT looks and feels completely natural.

The only time I had a frozen feeling was a nurse at a beauty clinic and I also thought she overdid it. Now many years later I have lines smoothed completely away using a doctor, in four cities now and a few years on my age, without any need to freeze my forehead.

Hi Lu Marie I looked at Spire Healthcare at Murrayfield but was put off by the consultation fee. How much do you pay?

I paid around £200 - similar price to the clinic with a nurse (with good reviews, don't trust them). Consultation and treatment all done quickly at same time.

It lasts waaaaaaaay longer that the three-six months I hear being said. At first I could go to two years, now maybe a year, quite happily. So it works out well.

It's your face and it's already expensive, I don't take chances!

The consultant I saw is a fully practicing cosmetic and reconstructove surgeon. The nurse stuck needles in the general direction of my forehead and then tried to tell me I needed it beside my eyes too. When I said, well I don't really have lines there and even if I did, that's happiness, I don't want to take happy from my face. She shoved a mirror in my face to try to convince me. That was nearly a decade ago and not a doctor since has said there is anything that could be changed about my eyes, line free!

I also had juvaderm done by the nurse, a year later it needed done again and I had the consultant do it. Nearly a decade later and it still hasn't needed done again because he did such a good job.

... and damn it I can't remember his name! It's a man, he has private and health service practice, the surgery types I mention, I think his name began with an M....

Sorry you had a bad experience @LuMarie but totally unfair to take your one poor experience with a nurse and decide we are all 'one up from facials' 🙄
Juvaderm is a hyaluronic acid which is designed (depending on the viscosity used) to break down over a period of 6-12 months.
Who do you think trains a lot of the doctors now practising aesthetics..

@Hairybuttmonkey how is it looking now? Are you happy with it?

Final update - I went back two weeks later as I felt my brows were still asymmetrical. We agreed my droopy brow wasn't going to lift anymore so lowered the other slightly instead. This has evened them out much more. I also went for a brow tint and shape and the combo of this and the Botox has made my face look a lot more even.

So... would I recommend Botox for uneven brows? Yes but with the caveat not to expect miracles. I had Botox in only one area but next time I would do two areas so I don't have lines at the top of my forehead but none in the brow area. I would also recommend and go back to Surface Beauty as she now knows how my face behaves with Botox and what I'm looking for. Plus she's good and cheap Grin
