Are expensive hairdressers worth it? Or do I expect miracles?!

I wonder whether it is worth paying twice as much for a really good cut and colour? Obviously without any guarantee that it will be really good - could just be really expensive?! I am late 40s with scruffy shoulder length light brown hair with grown out highlights. I don’t want a radical change but would like to look glossier, more expensive, groomed, prettier, younger... am I expecting too much from a mere mortal hairdresser?! I’d really appreciate any advice! Would I be better with cheaper hairdresser and Botox?

@affectionincoldclimate, truly if I say so myself the colour is fab as you say just beautiful sun kissed, that blends in sooo well with my natural colour I can’t stop looking at it😂

You’re tempting me now!!

Took me a while to find the right hairdresser, and she is at a mid range salon. Even the more pricey ones couldnt cut my hair right. I do have a bob though (not a mumsy one) and what I have found is that not every hairdresser can cut a good bob style.

I prefer how she does the colour too, previous time it just didnt last, I still dont know why, but i just wanted keen. My hairdresser now mixes tints and puts in a clear as well to keep the shine.

I have found it a case of trial and error to get the right person. But i do think the products they use for colouring makes a big difference.

Yes definitely, but depending on word of mouth/reviews too as expensive doesn't always mean better, but it certainly can. I had my hair cut & coloured by Lee Stafford himself once & it's still one of best experiences I've had & the cut lasted for ages as it grew out through different stages & still looks good. Same when my old friend who was a top hair & make up artists & used to cut my hair for me, always much better cut & colour than anywhere else

@dontcallmelen @Binkybix That's probably one of my top 10 Mark's cuts and colours ever. Cut was a perfect 90s shaped pixie and colour was a three colour blend (gazillion of foils) with natural hair colour undercut at the back. I now want it back Grin

@affection ooh good colours, yes I had what felt like millions of foils he blended three colours as well, it’s just really natural looking, even my dd approves & she is super critical when it comes to hair.
