Help - I'm a mess!

I have a just 2 year old and a Velcro 7 week old and I just don't have the time to look after my appearance at the moment. It's really getting me down.

I've joined SlimmingWorld and have lost half a stone so far but still have another 1.5 stone to get back to my pre-baby weight and another stone on top of that to get back to a healthy BMI.

I have naturally frizzy hair that need the straighteners through it every day and I don't get a chance anymore. I don't put on make up, I'm still in my maternity clothes and I'm pushing 40. I just feel so fed up and I have got to the stage where I hope I don't bump into anyone I know when I venture out.

I have £25 a month to spend on myself as a treat - what would you do with this to feel better about yourself?

I'd save up your weekly spends and get a Brazilian blowdry or similar keratin treatment. I find if my hair is easy and looks nice with minimal styling I feel pulled together. It will also give you more time if you don't have to straighten your hair.

Other than that, I'd say lay out your clothes the night before to prevent the morning exhausted throwing on of whatever fits or doesn't have stains! Mascara, lipstick and B.B. cream with a good spf and you'll feel like you are a bit more pulled together.

You said your hair is frizzy. I know this might sound stupid, but might it actually be curly? You could maybe try the curly girl method and see if this helps. If I just blow-dry my hair without using straighteners it's fairly frizzy. But if I don't brush it, just put my fingers through it and scrunch in some seasalt spray then leave it to air dry I get lovely curls/waves. I like the Lee Stafford spray the best. Might this work for you?

Thanks @Xiaoxiong I actually do already have a Brazilian blow dry but I still need the straighteners!

That's a great tip about laying out my clothes the night before. I will do that. Also the BB cream, I've never used one but I'll give it a go.

@stoplickingthetelly it is naturally curly but very thick and I do feel it looks like a dodgy perm! However I haven't tried to embrace the curl for years and I am a slave to my straighteners so I might give this a go, thank you.

I also scrunch in a bit of Moroccan oil too sometimes to help with the frizz. I was like you for years, trying to irradicate any hint of a wave. But more recently I've been wearing my hair curly. I've had loads of compliments and I'm really enjoying it. I would also agree a bit of basic makeup will help you feel much brighter. A radiating bb cream, cream blush, undereye concealer, bronzer and mascara can work wonders. It can all be slapped on pretty quickly too.

Accessorise! When my kids were tiny and I was sleep deprived I always felt better with earrings and a nice scarf, even jeans and t shirt look better with a nice scarf. plus mascara and blusher!
