Sunscreen that doesn't sting eyes

GrainneWail · 03/06/2018 16:03

Just that really. I can't seem to find a sunscreen that doesn't end up melting and seeping into my eyes making them burn and me want to gouge them out. I'm really careful not to put it too close to my eyebrows but the all seem to end up running after about an hour of moderately warm weather, even if I'm not sweating! Has anyone any recommendations?

Dunno but I want this too!

Apileofballyhoo · 03/06/2018 16:06

The only one I've found is bare minerals prime time SPF 50. The screen is titanium dioxide, so maybe look out for that.

loveka · 03/06/2018 16:07

Ultrasun. It is actually sweat melting the sunscreen and running in your eyes! I only discovered this recently! No more stingong with Ultrasun. It has changed my life!!!

CanIBuffalo · 03/06/2018 16:12

I'll try the Ultrasun. Singing sun cream and eyes that don't make tears any more is a vile combination (bastard menopause)

GrainneWail · 03/06/2018 16:15

Thanks, I'll look up both of them. Icanbuffalo, my eyes are very dry too lately, which is probably making it worse now you mention it. I've just had to come in from the garden to scrub my face my eyes are do sore. I'll have to just stick on a hat for the rest of the evening.

god this is pissed me off so much today I shouted I'd rather have wrinkles than put up with it ..but then thought ah skin cancer...

i used heliocare spf 50 this am and it stung like buggery ..I put some on my eyebrows though cos they were micro bladed yesterday so that didn't help

Alturist suncream is brilliant for this. I've tried so many facial sunscreens, but have stopped looking for new ones since using this. I can even put it on my eyelids.
It was made with a view to being suitable for people with albinism, so can be used everywhere. It's affordable too (about £7.50 for 100ml).

(Reading back that sounds like an advert!! I don't work for them I promise! I just think it's fab).

I don't do my forehead anymore. I've got a fairly substantial fringe.

GrainneWail · 03/06/2018 16:29

It's Altruist I've just scrubbed off, 45 Sad

Oh no! Sorry to hear that. I'll bear that in mind for recommending it again.
My eyes have reacted to La Roche Posay, Ultrasun, Simple, Soltan, etc but not Alturist. I wonder what's in them that is the irritant.

MsHomeSlice · 03/06/2018 16:41

i recently used one and waited for the eye sting which didn't happen, I left it somewhere so cannot check exactly what it was, so that's helpful

However, it was available in factor 30 and 50 and pretty sure from looking at tesco website that it was this one It's an aerosol spray, shake it till it rattles and then spray.

For my face I sprayed it into my hands and rubbed it on, and it doesn't feel the least bit icky either, so a huge plus.
I bought the factor 50.

I don't do my forehead anymore. I've got a fairly substantial fringe this is perfect solution

LazyHazyCrazyDaysofSummer · 03/06/2018 17:17

I started buying Hawaiian Tropic face sunscreen years ago because of this and found it worked perfectly. No more stinging eyes.

However they don't sell the one I'm still using, managed to find some old stock, any more. I've no idea how their current face sunscreen stands up to the 'no stinging eyes test'.

GrainneWail · 03/06/2018 17:47

Actually, dh had a brilliant Hawaiian Tropic sport one that he got in the US last year but when I tried to get more it seems to be discontinued.

Unfortunately a fringe would be a terrible year round problem solution for a few weeks of the year issue Grin

La Roche Posay have one now that says it's for sensitive eyes - not sure if it's the Extra Comfort one with a new name or if it's replaced that.

CanIBuffalo · 03/06/2018 18:17

Pampers used to make a baby sunscreen wipe and it was the only thing I've ever tried that didn't sting. They discontinued it.

Scrutler · 03/06/2018 18:35

The Superdrug own face one doesn't make my eyes sting.
