How to love (or at least accept) the body you have

I really struggle to feel good in what I wear and I think one of the issues might be that I'm trying to look like something my body just isn't (and possibly never was).

I'm tall but with a big mum tum, big thighs and bottom and tiny saggy boobs. I'm not overweight but I think I keep hoping I'll look more streamlined in what I wear than is possible!

So, how do you love, or at least accept, the body you have? I need to - and having a daughter I also feel strongly about the importance of what messages I'm giving her.

I also agree with trying things in you wouldn't normally try, sometimes we get stuck in a rut and also don't have the confidence to try other things. Take a friend and just try lots of stuff on and see what she/he says.

Not at all Gwen. I think accepting and working with the body you've got is key to looking good.

I've accepted it a lot more this year after ditching t shirts for good. My body is fine except for my mum tum but that makes me look pregnant as its all in front.

Last summer I was miserable. Over the course of the year though I have been steadily buying shirts and blouses in varying weights and patterns and sleeve lengths. Now I look 100% better. More put together and they just skim over my tummy and you can't really see it. I care about it a lot less now!

I will never ever go back to t shirts. Shame-inducing things.

I'm also joining a yoga/plates studio soon. I want to feel strong and proud.

T shirts are not flattering on most people

They highlight any lumps and bumps...

But are so comfy!

And shirts need ironing! Sad

I think for me, in my head at least, I am two dress sizes smaller with a flat tummy & slim arms- ie pre baby size. I still get a shock every time I pass a store mirror.
