Cos clothes

So I went into Cos today to have a nose after reading about it on here. I liked a lot of what I saw but didn't buy anything because I'm a shorty at 5"3 & a size 8 so I'd be swamped. So if I like Cos what else could I like that wouldn't look like I'm wearing a sack of potatoes. I've got my sister's graduation, a wedding & possibly an interview coming up.

I know what you mean - I am short as well, and while I have had a few good things from cos over the years, most of their stuff is better suited to tall people.

I love Uniqlo for basics, but that’s probably not the best place for special occasion outfits. &other stories is worth a look too, although I have not actually bought anything there yet.

Thank you, I'll have a look at other stories. I liked the simplicity of Cos clothes, the quirky details and the fabrics were good quality. It's a shame they don't have a petite range because it would appeal to more customers.

I like Cos, also Other Stories and Kin at John Lewis have similar shapes and styles. H&M sometimes have Cos style pieces in bigger stores - I think the white label range.

Have a look at Finery London. Similar enough styles.

I have a colleague who's probably about 5ft and very slim - wears a lot of COS and looks great. Usually more tailored pieces and if eg poufy skirt then fitted top and vice versa.

Thanks ladies, I'll have a look at all your suggestions. Now that I'm in my 40's I want to avoid fast fashion & frills and go for more classic styles. I like the Cos designs so will go in and try out some clothes.

Xiaoxiong thanks for the article, I've book marked the shops!

Arket is worth a look, superb quality

Leicesterpiggott · 01/06/2018 18:08

Finery is NOTHING like Cos! It's all floral and frilly and flouncy.
Try Arket, Uniqlo, Stories or the bit of H&M with the pale pink label.

eloisesparkle · 01/06/2018 18:15

The Edit by Carolyn Donnelly at Dunnes Stores.
Very Cos like.

Flaminglingos · 01/06/2018 18:36

Thanks ladies, keep the suggestions coming. I've got a few hours of child free time tomorrow to go and try stuff out. I'm a funny size, I'm petite 8/10 but 30E on top.

I have recently got a few things from Monki which I think is from the same group as Cos. Really flattering for all sizes and some very cool clothes.

BubblesBuddy · 01/06/2018 23:09

It depends on the collection at Finery. They can be plain and have been in the past. Arket are excellent.

Musicforsnorks · 02/06/2018 09:45

Not sure about other stories to be honest, I find most of their items grossly overpriced for what they are - thin, shiny polyester. I’m sure there’s an emperors new clothes thing going on with them, but yeh, their marketing is successful - unlike their dreadful returns policies.

Was in there yesterday, most stuff see-through and no better quality than top shop, etc, but three times the price.
Great makeup though!

CatherineMaitland · 02/06/2018 11:23

There's a lot more floral floaty in & Other Stories than I've ever seen in Cos. I have a bag from there that is very good though.

Not everything in Cos is oversized. I think you just have to find the right thing.
