White T shirts - buy cheap, buy often or invest in expensive ones?

What's your white T shirt philosophy? £5 in Primark and replace frequently when they start to go grey or invest £50 in a bamboo fibre or similar and hand wash to try and keep it white?

Also where do you buy your favourites?

By the way I wouldn't just dump greying t's, I'd try to be green and use them for polishing etc Grin

I rarely wear a white t-shirt these days, but I buy cheapish. You can get decent ones in Cos/Uniqlo or H and M, without spending a lot.

I bleach stains that won't wash out

hushnowthanks · 31/05/2018 15:25

Zara or H&M all the way. H&M hold their shape/don’t bobble easily.

Battleax · 31/05/2018 15:26

Oh gosh, who has time to hand wash tshirts?

I buy cheap or cheapish and hope for the best. I have some strappy Tesco ones that have been going for about four years and look perfect.

Middle ground - I buy Uniqlo supima ones on offer/in the sale and they feel and look good, wash well, and don't cost a fortune.

I'd buy cheapish ones and replace frequently. I don't wear white much but I get deodorant build up on tops that won't come out no matter what I do. I end up having to chuck tops because of this rather than any staining/discolouration of tops.

I buy cheap ones from Asos or Gap.

agentdaisy - have you tried spraying them with white vinegar and then leaving overnight. the overnight bit is important or it doesnt work....i've recently found

I had some white t-shirts from Tu that were nice. I say had, I wore them about twice a few years ago so charity shopped them.Grin

I always go to cos.
Much of their range doesn’t suit me but the basics are almost flawless.

I’ve had a white, grey and a black tee for 3 yrs now and they wash well and still feel new.
They were only £17 ish so not designer prices, but they outshine my H&M, top shop tees by a million miles.

Best quality tee I have is by commes des garçons ‘play’. A stupid price but the cotton is so lush and thick it still surprises me.

Musicforsnorks · 31/05/2018 19:05

....never had to hand wash em!

MiddledAgedMother · 31/05/2018 19:12

M&S. Cheap as chips esp with sparks 20% discount. Wash in machine and stay white.
Just binned some vest tops that were 15 years old after lots of use and recently replaced at £4 each. New ones great - washed and expect they will last for years too!

I got a load of m & s ones in the sale after Christmas, they were a couple of quid each.
