Favourite suit - dry clean failure - any ideas?

I dropped a little piece of meat/gravy on the skirt of my favourite suit. Stupidly I attempted to remove the stain with a little water and wool detergent.
This left a huge watermark. I took it to the Waitrose dry cleaners and just collected it. It is better but some of the water mark remains and it is unwearable.

I bought this suit about 5 years ago but only started wearing it recently as I have lost weight and it finally fitted me. It really is far nicer than anything else I have.

Any ideas, wise Mumsnetters?

You still have a nice suit jacket to mix and match whatever happens, but, depending on the style of the skirt and location of water mark you could take it to a local dressmaker and see if they can either make an alteration in such a way that it cuts out the mark with a dart or pleat, or see if they can do something clever with cold-water dye. I guess if the skirt is unwearable as is then nothing to lose!

If it's ruined as it is, what about a very gentle dunk for the whole skirt in wooll detergent, and flat drying? If you can't wear it currently, you might rescue it, but you won't be worse off?
But wait and see if others have got better ideas first!

If it's unwearable as is then I'd just chuck it in the washing machine...

Thanks vinegar, but there is no scope for removing material I'm afraid.

Balloon, I might try your suggestion if all else fails. Brazzle, I just don't think I could bring myself to close the door on the washing machine with my lovely skirt inside.

I don't know if all dry cleaners are much of a muchness?

Thanks again, folks.

Water marks need water to remove them, is the skirt 100% wool? There are treatments that a dry cleaner can use but they will be reluctant to do so as can cause patch shrinkage.
Dry clean only garments are normally dry clean only to prevent shrinkage, damage to fibres although a lot of them can be gently hand washed - never jackets though!
Is it wool mix or 100% wool?

Thanks Why. Just checked and it is 60% viscose and 40% wool.
