If you had about £400 to spend on a watch what would you buy? Preferably something a bit timeless rather than a fashion one if you know what I mean.

Have a look at Christopher Ward online. Beautiful British made Swiss quality watches. There's often some cracking bargains in the clearance page too.

I’ve wanted the pearly faced VW watch for ages, but looking for it tonight, I’ve now fallen for the blue strapped one too. Definitely treating myself after holiday. Probably not the timeless you’re after though!

Those Christopher ward ones are lovey but I can’t see any ladies ones...google seems to be saying they don’t do them any more or am I wrong? Maybe some are unisex.

Those VW are lovely but maybe just not quite what I had in mind.

Ah, sorry - I didn't realise they only did men's watches now. Pity as they were lovely.

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 29/05/2018 21:51

I love Skagen watches. You probably wouldn't need your entire budget either.

Very stylish and timeless.

StylishMummy · 29/05/2018 22:30

You can get a preloved omega for around £500-600 without diamonds?

Chocaholic21 · 29/05/2018 22:33

Longines watches are lovely.

myotherbagisgucci · 29/05/2018 22:40

An iwatch!

specialsubject · 29/05/2018 22:41

why cant you wear a man's watch? will be better made and cheaper.

WeeM · 29/05/2018 23:23

I probably could wear a mans one @specialsubject but I have really small wrists so anything too big in style just looks a bit daft on me and sometimes it’s hard to tell online how chunky they are.

I actually have a skagen one that wasn’t an expensive one and I love it, never even thought to look there! Lots of good suggestions...off to google...Smile

I have a citizen solar powered one. Love it. Have had it for 7 years and was about 400

o0o0 · 29/05/2018 23:37

Mm i recommend buying pre loved watches - will never pay full price again. You can get the very best brands at a fraction of the price

Blondielongie · 30/05/2018 00:16

What about a mondaine. You could get a really good one for £400 and they are Swiss made.

WeeM · 30/05/2018 09:55

Love the Mondaine and had never heard of them, this is why I love mumsnet. And after a google it appears there’s a lot of jewellers local to me sell pre owned so I’m definitely going to have a look, although online even some of the preowned are really dear!!

Definitely look at pre-loved Omega. Try Watchfinder. Co. Uk

Tryingtogetitright · 30/05/2018 10:54

Another vote for Citizen EcoDrive - I love them and there's a great range of prices and styles

PNGirl · 30/05/2018 10:54

Tissot for me I think!

Cutesbabasmummy · 30/05/2018 11:07

Or a pre loved TAG Heuer. I've had mine since I was 16 and its still perfect at the age of 42!

goose1964 · 30/05/2018 12:16

I have a. Krug Baumen it normally details for around four to five hundred for this model but I bought mine for under a hundred as it was the last one in blue. They produce the same watch in different colours as well as white face, tan strap. Wow the price has really gone up since I bought mine. It's this one but in pale blue
